It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Rip maps out of your cache 227 users

Post by dROID »

I was asking about a cache converter awhile back and there isnt one for unreal but....
I found this online

This only applys for 227 users:

Open your unreal folder up, find the cache folder, open it. Put the files in TYPE Order. At the very top or bottom, there is a file called Cache.ini. Open it. Once you have done this, youll see what to do. You find the map or file u want in the cache INI by word searching what ur lookin for. Thats up top of the ini FIND, , next to FILE lol....

then u simply rename it to whatever it is.  example 545565.uzzz is blade.utx
files to folders
.utx texture
.umx music
.uax sound
.int , ini or .u  system
.unr  MAP

It came from here  :)

I hope its of use to people

Yes, that's a useful new addition. However, most people already know it, since I believe the cache.ini file has been in every Unreal series game since Unreal Tournament. I don't remember if something like that is on UT3, though.

Mind you, you should always seek out the official releases instead of ripping files from the cache, since they could have been updated since then and they usually also include all of the necessary dependencies, as well as any other information you need to know in the readme file.

Converting can be done by simplest script. However I created small gui tool for such purposes.

If you cache rip maps and they have external dependencies, you could be ripping the required resources for a LONG time. Best to do as GE said and get the files from a more official source.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/unrealcm/
You need python and pygtk to run it.
And, please, report issues and feature request :)
P. S. Most of planned features will be implemented in next version.

ut3 does have one, its located in your user folder rather than the game install folder
Mygames/Unreal Tournament 3/UTgame/Cache

I see. Rarely do UT3 servers have any custom content on them, though, since UT3 resources are too big to both downloading them off a server...
