UT weapons into Unreal?

Hi everyone at OldUnreal. I'm hfc2x, and I'm a Doom modder. Lately, I've been learning the basics at mapping with UnrealEd and basic scripting with UnrealScript, because I've always found really interesting to work with the Unreal engine.
This is my first topic here, and I would like to know:
Has everyone already tried backporting UT99's weapons to Unreal?
I know that much of the work that must be done is backporting the actors and their scripts (I already did, BOY WAS A LOT), because I cannot load Botpack into the UnrealEd that comes with Unreal (currently using Unreal 227h). The main problem is that I cannot see the UT meshes in UnrealEd (maybe because Botpack cannot be loaded), so weapons will not appear whatsoever.
The question is (already mentioned):
Has anyone already done so? And, could someone explain to me why I cannot see the UT meshes in the editor?
