It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

starting a unreal server

i want to start a unreal server but it doesnt matter what i do, it doesnt show up in the list of internet games. i do probaly something wrong, but i already tried everything that is said on this tut: http://www.unrealsp.org/community/serverguide.html

my firewall allows every connection from unreal (in and out) but it still has no result. do i need to change some settings that aren't in the tut?
I hate it when people ask me what my favorite game is. Just try to explain you're not talking about Unreal Tournament ::).

For one, if your server is listed in the LAN tab, you may not necessarily be able to see it in other tabs. So it might be working just fine. Usually your log should tell you if it is or not.

May need to do port forwarding on your router as well as your current settings through the firewall

is it normal that the master server adress is an empty box?
and is there a way to test or those ports are open?

I can see that you can connect to the server fine, but I'm not sure about doing it the other way round. I don't see any confirmation either way. Those errors are quire odd, however, even if not associated with the issue at hand. But yes, if someone outside the network says they can't see it, then nobody can see it.

after the installation of the coop game mode does is say that it can't find the file jcoopz1. even when i install it manual after the setup.

edit: i had to re-install the 227h patch because the core.dll file was damaged/removed.

If your talking about my file. You must install 225 patched to F first. Then run my program over it. Get it working first, then upgrade to 227H.

doesnt work sparky. i downgraded from 227h to 225f, installed your file, started the server, got an error saying that the jcoopz1 file is missing, installed the 227h patch, and again i got the jcoopz file is missing error.

what did you enter into serverpackages?

The packages there are meant to be added without the .u extension. Or is this a complete setup? :)

To downgrade to 225 and then back to 227h makes no sense to me. There are various differences between the versions and you risk to have some wrong or missing entries.
If you send me your ini file I can have a look also.

Edit: Ah, now I see, its a complete Setup including install. Nice ;)

uninstalled unreal and reinstalled version 1, updated to 225, installed the jzcoopserver pack, got again the same jcoopz1 is missing error, installed the 227h patch, and again the same f*cking jcoopz1 is missing error.


could it be the problem is that i did install my unreal in G:/unreal game? must it be on the C drive? or must the name of the map be called unreal?
I hate it when people ask me what my favorite game is. Just try to explain you're not talking about Unreal Tournament ::).

it works fine on my pc, it didn't work when i had unreal installed in :c/program files/unreal classic.
now i have it in :c/unreal and ik works fine. (version 227h) :)

to check if really files are missing, download JCoopZ from here:

http://www.hypercoop.tk/indexd.htm

Check if all the files are in your System folder. Maybe the download got corrupted? If one or more are missing, copy them over. No need to add it to ServerPackages, JCoopZ works server-sided

Has to be something strange about your installation Roland, this works every time unless client has a problem or not a clean installation to C root drive.

The Jcoop files are included.

it seems that the installations has to be in c:/unreal or else it doesnt work.

but even then, my friend can't connect to it so i gues that the right ports arent open :'(

Hi :)

I tried it with a fresh install. I didn't use C for it, I never do. I took the drive F:\Games for my new install. After patched to 225f I executed the server install.
Here you must change the destination to your Unreal install. That works without problems. It shows C:\Unreal as default, so change the path here.

But guess, I also can't get this thing online ;D
Checked all ports and Firewall, nothing to find. Also log shows nothing.
That's weird, because all other servers work without problems.

Edit: OOOOpppppssss
I used the wrong IP from another PC for the ports :-[ :-[ :-[
Now it works.
Make sure the ports 8888-8891 UDP are open in your Router, also port 7775 UDP

Edit2: Use the shortcut BasicServerCoop which is in the Unreal folder to start the server. If your Unreal is not installed in C:\Unreal, then you also must change the destination in the shortcut.

Hi :)

In your server.log it says, that DoUplink is not set.
Check under AdvancedOptions\Networking\Master Server Uplink
if DoUplink is set to True.

DoUplink is set on Treu! :o
strange...
is it possible that is doesn't work because it's an 64 bit laptop?
