Someone was pissed that Epic can run a slimmed down version of UE3 on the iPhone but they can't or won't run it on the Wii. I can understand this, but this is a new version of the Unreal Engine 3, so maybe it will work now. Who knows.

Sorry I never liked Wii or the Iphone. But I thought it was impressive they got it to run on the Iphone.

Epic Games’ president, Mike Capps, reiterated what Epic has previously said in an interview with IGN, stating that Epic won’t ever be developing games for the Wii. It’s not about the success of the platform to him, but what can be done on it. When asked whether there would ever be a time when Epic would be forced to give in and create a game for the Wii, Capps said, “no, we go forward, not back. It makes more sense for us to invest in the next-generation tech.”

As for why he believes the Wii has become so popular, he says it’s like a virus that just keeps spreading:

It’s a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they’re like, “Oh my God that’s so cool, I’m gonna go buy it.” So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they’ve showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. Obviously there’s a class of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games but I’m still waiting for that one game that makes me play it.

well despite the iphone not being exactly an x86 processor, isn't the thing inside it around 800mhz?
I mean that stupid small thing has twice the clockspeed of my pc up to 2007, which ran ut2004 just barely, i guess that thing could do alot better :P

That was me! :D

Actually, I heard a developer team was attempting to port UE3 over to the Wii anyway, so even though we won't ever get UT3 Wii (that sounds a little weird...), we'll at least get some other games that run on UE3 (The Ball would be perfect on the Wii IMO).
So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they’ve showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on.
You know why? Because nearly every good game dev thinks the same freaking thing that you do about the Wii! Why does that make people stop playing the Wii? Because all the good games are going to the other consoles because game devs are so stupid that they think most of the money is on the more powerful consoles instead of the more accessible ones! Idiots!! And all the Wii is left with are incompetent morons who continue to make family-friendly games instead of gritty M-rated games like Dead Space and UT3 that populate the PC, 360 and PS3! Not only does that lessen the Wii's image in the eyes of serious devs like Epic, it convinces other idiots to do the same thing!! It's a vicious cycle that's only just NOW beginning to be broken by devs like High Voltage with The Conduit and The Grinder, EA with Dead Space: Extraction, and Konami with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (just to name a few)!!![/nerdrage]

The game on the screen looks like a glorified Unreal1 tech demo from way back when, with all those arches, they just added a pretty gun and better textures.

Cool, but probably not going to be worth it.

iPhone? Wii? PC is still a lot better than any console! Too bad they didn't make UT3 optimised for it, though :(

Nice, It works with OpenGL.
It would be good to use OpenGL renderer for Windows!

Agreed. Whatever I tried to play on a console, it was a no go. It's not like I never played anything so I'm not experienced, it's just... No... Just... No.....

I like how in the discussion thread on BuF, people occasionally say "UT3 looks a lot better without all those stupid post-processing effects" as if they don't know that there's an option to turn it off.
