Unreal: PSX Remake Recruitment

Post by Victor Delacroix »

Hello there, people.

As you might know, Leo(T.C.K.) has scavenged a LOT of the cancelled PlayStation port resources. Maps, textures, you name it. He started work on the remake, but this of course, takes time.

Besides, I have my own vision on how this is supposed to look like and would like to pursue that vision.

I require volunteers to help in this project.

First of all, here is everything recovered so far:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CUZNWNDG

Now, volunteers would be required to join several segments into single maps and replace the low resolution textures with their regular counterparts.

Detailed instructions for every level will be given out as soon as work upon this level commences.

My MSN (which works as an e-mail address also) is:
bruno.glening@windowslive.com

The working platform would be, as I suggest, Unreal: Return to Na Pali v224, since the remake will utilize RNP resources and work on that platform would ensure compatibility with the said RNP version, Unreal Gold and the final 227g patch alike. Let's maximize compatibility here.

Please, help. Let's bring this gem back.

I believe you all need to know this.

The decision I have just made is a result of not just the PSX "mess", but of several factors that I had to face and which I could not cope with. Call it a weak mind, but I just can't go on. Treat this as a final note.

Back in April 2009 I had a serious breakdown when I found out that the girl I lived with found herself a new bloke and broke up with me. I found strength to live by engaging myself fully into activities of the Unreal scene, trying to work on the FCBP and various other things.

In September 2009, I met another girl that dumped me after a few months. I then decided that my life needs a closure, but I cannot leave things I started unfinished. That included FCBP.

As we all know, it got canned a few months back thanks to RoninMastaFX' eventual "snap" at me, the fault was entirely mine. Even though we ARE friends again, the mod isn't likely to return.

When in November this year I met yet another "soulmate", I found also some vigor to share with Leo's PSX project -- but as I heard from HybridZ and concurred with that -- the current storyline was far inferior to Unreal's, lacking the feel of isolation that was with us the entire time during the original campaign. I then decided that Leo and I might be better off on separate ways, but I still wanted to share something with him, so I decided that my team will insert the story last, after supplying the raw-but-fixed maps to him.

This ended up as we can see.

I screwed up way too many times, in private life, in online communities, in work, in everything.

I am sick of trying more.

This ends here.

I will now proceed to log off from all the sites I am regged in and tonight I will put a definite closure on my existence. Enough is enough.

Farewell.

Hey man,I don't know you at all but I'm taking this as a possible suicide letter.
I don't know your circumstances,your age,whatever.
I do know that suicide is not the way man.
No matter what happens in your life,no matter how bad you feel or believe there is no other way, please don't do this to yourself.
Life's a bitch, bad things happen to good people and no matter how bad it gets it can always get worse.
That being said, all things come to pass if we persevere.
We have to keep on and "trudge" the long road, fight the good fight, keep on keeping on,etc.
Better things will come our way if only we keep going even though we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
We have to have faith that better things are around the corner.
Talk to a friend,call someone,anyone.Hell call me,I'll talk to anyone.(PM for #)Collect is fine.
Just don't do the one thing you can't take back bud.
I hope you do read this and maybe pick up the phone.

Ok Delacroix,I checked. So your 27,life is just beginning for you man.
I found some info I hope you use,my offer to call me will always be open.
Here are some local numbers that can help.If nothing else just someone to talk to.
It's amazing how just talking about things that are bothering you have less power/control over your thoughts when you actually put them out there.

Hang in there man.

Delacroix, so things fell through a bit, don't do something you can't undo. I know how it is, I've been there (And am partly still there) Things are hard, but don't take such heavy handed action against yourself. There is still a lot more chances to life.

Take it from an Old person. Been there, and it does get better. All things improve with time. Hang in there young man. It will get better. Life is full of mountains and valleys. You sometime think its a bottomless pit with no way out. You will find this not to be the case, if you ride out the storm. Seems life is one storm after another followed by sunny periods. You have to treasure the good times, and ride out the bad. God has the answers. He is in control.

I doubt you wanna end your live. You just need to talk to some RL friends. Don`t rely on user posts in the internet (includes my one as well) in situations like this.

longer edit:
This development of sozial networks and forums scares me. The internet makes a lot lose their inhibitions. They begin to tell things which other people would never reveal. This what you have done here is kinda like you would leave your house, running in the city to scream you wanna end your live maybe. Would you do it? I doubt that. Everybody would be able to listen to your words. But where is the difference to the internet? Everybody is able to read your post here. It is a public forum. Even guests are able to read what you wrote here. It would only take some researches. A coincidence however is already enough to find this forum, this thread, just by coincidence. So what, you can tell this somebody in RL, face to face, over telephone or over icq. But then this has to stop, although nothing beats a real live talk at all. Telephone is limited. You can only listen to the other sides word. You can not see his/her emotions, his/her tears. Icq and co is even worse. Only some text with some stupid smiles.  Listen, keep those kind of problems if possible in RL. Why do you want to let others know about your problems, ever considered that this is the internet? Its full of stupid and retarded kids. Would you listen to them, if one of them would write something like "lol as if you would do it". Would you do it, because you were told to do it? What I want to say to you and I am sure you will read it! This is too serious for the internet. Keep those problems within your family, under your friends and don`t rely to comments from the internet. Have you realized that I have not used any smile? Thats intended. You can not know at all, if I am serious or not? Maybe I laugh, maybe I dont care about your situation. You can not know.

edit 2: Until now I did not see you have not used smiles either. So this makes this even harder - for me at least - how serious your situation is. Really, let your closest ones take care of your situation. They know you in person and for sure more details. All those replies here so far - including my one - cant repeat it often enough - could express something wrong you would not expect... since we dont know you and because of the other already mentioned problems.
If YOU have any questions to my post or in case you have not understood something, YOU can always ask. Take care.

I caused too many problems on my own and I just don't know what to do with all that.

I just don't want to continue messing everything up.

I'll get some professional help, but it's fat chance I'll be back on track.

I'm glad to see you are still here and posting Delacroix.
Like I said in my post before.I don't know you(and your post did scare me)but there are people who care and will listen.
Everybody screws up,everybody...
The thing is,when people do screw up,make wrong choices, things of that nature. If you think about it,worry about it,regret it,then you my friend have what is called a conscience.
When you have that there is always a road to travel.

I wanted to kill myself at some point in my life. I know now I never will truly want to anymore. Why?

You have to give yourself something to hang on to. No, not a girl, a game, or anything.

I'm talking about some undeniable fact of your life. Something that differs from different person I'm sure... but -that- something, you can hang on to forever, and knowing that, knowing that it can never be denied, you'll never want to kill yourself again.

What do I live for? What is the undeniable fact about myself that wants me to keep on living?

You screwed up all over, but there is something in you that is worth it. It can be simple and if you don't find it, you can make it.

Its hard to explain. We're all so imperfect. Something we believe we're worse than the others. But we're not. The stupid society of today and how people work would make us believe that yes, we are the dumbest person on the planet. That we make more mistakes than others. But we don't. YOU DON'T. I don't.

You have to believe in something in yourself. Hang on to an absolute truth, one that others in the past have told you and/or one that you know, and you will have the will to live so that you can have the things you want.

Yes, thats it. Find the truth about yourself. Filter all the crap in your life. Only focus on the good thing, and find the truth. We all have good in us. We all have that something unique inside us, worth preserving. What is yours?

First of all, don't say hang... you'll give me ideas. :D

OK, now if I started jesting, it means I definitely am over it.

I found one thing: I can be too hilarious to myself and others to put it to waste.

Another thing: I am too crappity smacking stubborn to die yet -- I STILL need to get some things done before I slip into oblivion.

Yet another thing: I need to watch all the sequels to the Human Centipede, won't watch them dead.

Yet another thing: If I made friends with a total stranger that is an Argentinian composer, Claudio Serra, up to a point that he made me a birthday present of all his seven CDs, I can't be that bad.

crappity smack, life is MINE. It's ass is MINE.
