HyperCoop Lag

Post by Anarchy »

Hi guys,

I was just on HyperCoop with Hellfire and we noticed considerable lag on the server.

I'm not sure what caused this but I've provided screenshots if it's of any help.

@Hyper

Was your home internet connection being used for something else during this time such as uploading videos or other media? The reason I ask this is because we only got pockets of it and sometimes the pings would be the normal and the gameplay was fine but it would spike and lag and drop down again.
I don't think it was client side because both me and hellfire experienced it at the same time.

Anyways I hope this helps you in maybe troubleshooting some unforeseen network problem that may arise at your servers.

Regards,

Hm, actually I cannot explain this yet. I wasn't doing anything myself because I was sleeping at the moment you posted this. And I'm not running any P2P/torrents at the time.

I do run my webserver from the same address but it is bandwidth capped to avoid interfering with the game servers.

How often does this occur? Anyone else has this experience lately?

I think this may have been just a once off incident

Your server seems to function fine now with low latency and no packet loss.

I'm guessing the internet could have just been busy at that time and it might have led to congestion with your connection I'm not too sure unless it happens again but if it does I will report it to you.

Anarchy.

When I think of this issue now: It was most likely caused by a projectile-related performance issue mentioned here.

Not directly anything Aura related is it?

Edit: If so I need to smack Booda.

No aura bug. Aura is related because it causes many projectiles flying around. But it has done so for years without this problem.

it was caused by aura because this 227g version had a performance issue with projectiles. Not noticeable in "normal" gameplay but Aura produces that much projectiles at once that it can max out the server. Once updated again it'll be fine.
Thanks Hyper for all your patience testing this out, but as a small reward you will love the performance of the new version :)
