It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Last time I checked, a lobby server was a pre-server browser Master Server that had teleporters pointing to servers.

replication does not support this, you'd need to make hacks with tcp or udp links

it's theoretically possible but not practical.

Could we have an option to launch the washing machine from a server ?
You must construct additional pylons.

I would have agreed if it would have been a remote launch and bring cup'o'coffe service for the coffee machine, but a washing machine... that's absurd!

Funny thing is i'm sure there are networked coffee machines and it would be absolutely possible to send a packet to it to start coffee from unreal

Wierd?

P2P was wierd maybe 6 years ago, but not anymore. P2P "server" is opposite of dedicated server.

Dedicated server is one server computer where all players connect, and the server computer does all computing for players expect players do their own graphics and sound.

P2P "server" is many players connect directly to each other, and their computers do all the computing and keep the "server" alive. "Server" is in commas because there isn't really a physical server.

What games uses P2P:
- CoD MW2
- GTA IV
- Valve's Alien Swarm (dedicated also supported)
- ...
- Maybe all console-games

Have you ever played P2P-game?

Cool features of P2P:

- It's very easy and quick to create "server"
- No need to open any ports of firewall or do any port-forwarding
- "Server" won't crash if server host leaves the game ("server" will die if all players leave, because no-one computes)
- Players may bring their own mods to the "server" without asking
- Players may bring their own custom maps, but they need to create their own P2P-"server"

Not-so-cool features of P2P:
- Game usually isn't very configurable
- Players mods may contain something harmful or unfair
- No dedicated server mods
- Usually when some player brings a mod to the server, only the player, who bring it, can only use it

Dedicated servers are superior to P2P in the fact that it doesn't rely on anyone's connection, if everyone's connection sucks everyone suffers even more. Unreal is a very global game now with the community being all over the place, and that would only make P2P worse.

There is no place for a P2P server in unreal, and I don't think it's worth bothering with for more than a proof of concept.

I dont see whats really wrong with the current method of dedicated servers. Stability is alot better and setting one up is really simple.

Oh and i could use a unreal server remote washing machine control.

And of couse I ment that P2P do not replace Unreal dedicated servers.

P2P-server system could be cool as an addon that players may choose server browser tab "P2P" from Unreal server browser.

This. Then I wouldn't need to get up to make myself coffee anymore. Definitely for it.
