It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Hi everyone! *dodges tomatoes*  

Forgive me if this has been discussed/answered before, but for the love of Crom ...is there a way to turn off auto weapon switching in org press, 1st Unreal?

I play "botmatch" on Org Unreal Gold 'coz I like some of the weapons and the different feel and the constant auto-switching ruin-zez the precious...

Also, can you make the HUD bigger if playing higher rez-ez-zez?....also, I can't see the death messages, there's nooo...satisfaction, lol...   8-)

When you start the game up, hit Esc, go to Options -> Weapons -> uncheck Auto-Switch Weapons :)

I play botmatch still. Because I haven't seen a server with 32 other people on it.

*GASP* some of you are, are botsists!?   I still use Reaper bots with Quake, lol.
Hmmm, there's no such option on my Anthology version, Killer Skaarj.....

Remember this is Unreal, the very first version I'm using, but I do get the option playing UT.

It's almost like it simply wasn't built into the game at that point...*shrugs*

That's on Unreal version 227 only (check downloads section and unofficial patches).

You won't be able to play online either with the anthology version, so I recommend getting 227, or the anthology patch...but 227 is much better and worth it =)

DrawText needs to be changed in 227 to allow for upscaling of fonts. (There are plenty of other games that can do this, I don't see why Unreal can't, Font object's are nothing more than textures, they can be subject to scaling, because they are textures.)

The rest of the HUD can be scaled with simple UScript but this will end up being a mod of course, unless that's also incorporated into 227 which I don't think it will be... due to... complications perhaps.. Also due to how low res the hud elements are, they can get either pretty blurry or pretty blocky depending if bNoSmooth is set in the Canvas object at the time of the draw.

current 227g (which is not released officially yet) has already an option implemented for that as well as a couple of new fontsets which does also f.e. Russian chars also.

btw, for disabling weapon switch in pre 227 versions simply bind a key:

"set input space neverswitchonpickup 1"

replace the space button with whatever button you want, now you only need to press it once after mapswitch.

Cheers for the replies, everyone.

I tried those thingies with the ini file and "set input space neverswitchonpickup 1" but got no joy, tbh I wasn't even sure what file I should be altering!?...."user"?..."unreal"?... :-[

But after adjusting the weapons preferences I realized I don't really need to get too in a knot over the auto switching, lol.

the command I explained has to be entered into console with "tab" ;)

Actually that's the 227 option. If he uses 226 or older, there is none config option for that.

I always used gold before 227 and the option was available in gold. Not sure about 226 for unreal, but I did not see the option for 225 or before. Interesting, I thought that option was always there.
