Hello.

We got new network 100/5 (cable), new switch (so much reliable than last one) and new server computer with real Windows Server OS.

Server computer is directly connected to modem and the server computer has PCI-slot switch which shares internet to our other computers.

I also took Age's winter-mod off.

Server hasn't crashed yet neither our network

Server still may make client-Unreal crash after exiting Unreal while playing in the server.

No errors on our TV yet

EDIT!!!! I upgraded to Win 2003 and got new network card so IP changed!

EDIT2!!!! Added all maps from http://69.90.34.150/unreal/coop_maps/ to the server!

One golden tip from a fellow hoster: when you get attacked, ban the f[ch367]ckers' whole subnet.

banning their entire subnets is a bad idea on huge networks, I typically ban the last octet only.

RPG mods need to have unique accounts per player. And well, standard unreal campaign isn't good for leveling, need custom maps and more custom stuff.

Thank you for tips! Actually we have a bunch of custom maps on the server already (deadcity, deadcity2, deadcity3, our own unreleased maps, skaarjtower, and something else). I will DL some more after I get home (maybe 7 - 8 hours after this message). Do you (or someone) have any tips of any good custom map campaigns?

We have not yet invented unique player accounts. Age does almost all coding to the server, so if you are reading this Age, you should make some kind account&password- or hash-system for players. If you can.

Some changes after switching to new server computer:

- New IP (sorry for them who have added the server to their favs)
- New port (old was 39997, now default 7777)
- Some Unreal network settings testing/improving

EDIT:Nevermind, got UnigueID to work so now name don't matter anymore (creates UniqueID.ini to clients system folder). And it protects account stealing.

Need something to prevent XP stealing or leeching.

Stealing: some higher lvl player kills everything much faster than lower lvl, thus stealing all XP.

Leeching: some low lvl player teams up with high level player and do nothing, just leech XP.

Sorry for today's hour or two downtime, our TV started make errors so my mum got mad and took modem's power cord off!

I plugged it back before I left the building. Now I came back to home and noticed that server didn't understand sudden network off and on, and log was full of "failed to send heartbeat to master server bla bla".

Had to restart whole server to make it work.

I dunno how that can be possible. I checked our network settings and verified that everything is fine.

Added all maps from http://69.90.34.150/unreal/coop_maps/ to the server!! DL'ing didn't took that long at all, only organizing all files was little painful

I think we add/make some kind map vote system one day. Some kind which can automatically add 600+ maps to the list without typing them manually as .:..:'s map vote mod (as I remember).

Changed to http-download (faster and definitely more stable downloads). If your http-dl won't work, 227 patch will switch automatically to normal dl.

You may check (and dl if you like) those files from http://80.221.231.213:9999/

Leveling system core code seems now working fine. That means if theres not any major bugs which can affect balanced leveling, levels and stats will not reset to 0 anymore.

Sorry for level stucking! I can't do about it right now because I am at work. We have very nice tool to fix map stucks quick and easy.

And posts about leveling server goes here now. Maybe there's a forum later. I'll let you know then.

Hey BTW, did you found out yet why i got a little bit of a lag yesterday? Even after the downlaoder had some lag left.
