227f patch and Unreal Anthology
Hi everyone!
I installed Unreal and the Return to Na Pali expansion pack from the Unreal Anthology DVD. The annoying thing is that they changed the original Unreal so that you have a UT menu. Then you start Unreal or Na Pali by choosing from a menu. Luckily, the 227f patch restored the original Unreal menu. Unfortunately though, it removed the possibility to play Return to Na Pali, since the old Unreal menu can't handle the expansion pack. There's only "New Game" and it leads directly to the original Unreal. So I actually don't know how Return to Na Pali is integrated into the original Unreal, but it is in the same folder in each case (called "UnrealGold"). Even if I manage to start Return to Na Pali, there has to be a savegame management for both games. I don't know how to get both games running side by side now.
Would also be interesting to know how Return to Na Pali was originally installed / made run.
Thanks!

Short form: it isn't. 227 does not support UnrealGold yet and reverts your installation to Unreal. So I actually don't know how Return to Na Pali is integrated into the original Unreal

Since it's possible to get the original Anthology menu back, doesn't Na Pali actually work again? Or is it corrupted by the patch regardless of the menu used? This remained unclear in the FAQ.

Re: 227f patch and Unreal Anthology
its not corrupted, just plain disabled since parts of UPAK are native c++ and this requires a separate patch (which will be available for 227g then).
The menu has absolutely nothing to do with UPak, its just the new implementation which was invented with UGold, so if this is enabled or not doesn't matter.

Alrighty, good to know. It would be great if I could keep the original Unreal menu and run Na Pali from there.

Re: 227f patch and Unreal Anthology
The original return to na pali was a standalone game actually.
Unreal Gold is the merge of the two and somehow a bad merge as well. I hope 227 fixes these upak things when next version is released.

Re: 227f patch and Unreal Anthology
I have Unreal 227f and RTNP as separate games and both run as they should, I don't see a problem with that... Just make separate installations until 227g is out.
