I found where some guys are trying to get a team together to make the unreal 1 SP story for UT3 engine. It sounds like a good idea, hell if they did that I would buy ut3.
Topic is here:

I thought if they do this they will need your guys help.

I think this is another of those projects that will remain active for a while until it gets totally devoided of life, just like any other attempts of remaking Unreal 1 for UT2004.

I won't get UT3 until I upgrade my PC. As it now runs the demo only on 35fps when set on half of my screen resolution... :\

Yeap, usually big projects turn to silent halt after some time... Too bad... But hey, your Unreal 1 game conversion is awesome!

Well you can see how huge the response it to this idea. People always want to recapture the glory of the original but with the enhanced graphics of the new engines. Its a very noble cause I will try to help them for sure.
I don't know how serious they are about it, thats why I hope some of us here can help out. Cause I know this community would be the ones that could actually pull it off.

If anybody needs meshes or music, tell me. But I've been experimenting something with maps lately too.

So if you need anything, send me an e-mail, PM, post it here or leave a comment at my page.

I'd need to boost my PC by a factor of 100 to run UE3.
Didn't read all that thread's messages, but there is a lot of flamming going on there.

eh the first 10 pages are full of good info, diehard and firefly did alot of work on it. There is some stuff done on that but locating it and getting our hands on it might be an issue.
This community right here would probably have already had it done.

I'm surprised that Epic is allowing this to be made in the first place.

Why? Just read EULA (or some other doc at Epics page) - you are allowed to use ALL Unreal series assets in another Unreal series game

. So yes - you can port entire U1 to UT2k4 (what .:..: did AFAIK) or UT3, you can port textures, sounds, etc. You can not though port it to UDK - Epic had put down UT remake project for UDK before it even begun

.

I remember someone from epic asserting that it wasn't legal to use UT2004 assets in UT2003, so I guess it's all legal as long as it goes in the next generation and not the previous.

It's because UDK is free, so remaking games in it means making a free game.
