It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Problem with Unreal 98 beta
Whenever I try to boot up the game, I get a prompt for a username and password. What username and password should I use?

There should be a readme file in the main folder. It has the username and password in it.
It's been a while since I've even seen the Unreal Beta folder, so I don't know exactly where the readme is.

Check UnPass.ini, it contains the username and password, you have to manually enter them I forgot if copy paste was valid for that.
If you don't have that file I can give it to you, or you can re-download the 98 beta demo from Hyper.NL's website.
