We're (if i start working on it, but I have technical difficulties, the guy already made first map though) looking for texture artists, modellers and so on. It won't be exactly same as Daikatana, it will be with certain improvements and not a direct remake, also Unreal engine is much better platform than was the Q2 engine, the game does have good potential and gameplay ideas and they can be sharpen to be even better. I hope that he will also readd some cut content or ideas, or we, when I will work in team with him.

C'mon, all that back then hype passed long ago, daikatana became semi free game since, or even free using one client and daikatanadm was a cut off version released entirely for free and Romero didn't mind, he knew about it.
There is even source code of daikatana and betas avaiable if you know where to look.

I've never even heard of this game lol. Seeing that it was created by Romero, I'm sure it's not a bad game as he likes that Gothic stuff which I'm into (eg. Quake). Since my knowledge of UEd is extremely limited, I'm afraid I can't help out lol.

that's what you'd believe, but daikatana was overly hyped and ultimately failed to deliver. Everything about the game was pretty much bad compared to what it was supposed to be.

The instant it hit the shelves it was already deemed worst game ever, most likely due to the disappointment, not actually being the worst game ever of course. Also, the servers were empty just a few days/weeks after the game came out, I saw that on an ancient game review show at the time.

I would not help develop this remake due to the fact that I have no idea how the original daikatana was supposed to be, and I never hyped it myself.

That's best left to the people who know those things.

fun fact: Ion storm created daikatana, one of the "worst" games ever, and they also made deus ex, which is quite the opposite. Though the teams for both games were different, same company.

Daikatana was not so bad. I like this game (i bought it in 2002). The worst thing in the game was inteligence of your friend -Superfly and Mikiko ;D I hope Daikatana Remix is serious idea and not be abandoned.

Actually it was played a lot in dm (and the 99 multiplayer demo as well and some people liked it better than Q3A, not to mentioned the multiplayer demo came out earlier) and after release of free daikatana dm the game saw a reboot around in 2007, lots of players and servers surprisingly, nowadays it is again getting more scarce.

Most of game reviews were really biased against the game. The biggest problem with the game was the AI and the bugs, the latest patch solves most of them and still it wasn't perfect and sadly we didn't get too many patches, only two of them.
