It's on the site designated solely for Unreal 1 and RtNP that you can reach from www.unreal.com. If you click on the Unreal Gold box you get descriptions of both Unreal and RtNP. Heres an exert from the site:
Your ship has just crashed on an unknown planet. Your best friend has just been eaten by an alien. And all youve got is a desire to go home. This cant be real, you tell yourself. This cant be real. Its not. Its Unreal.
Unreal offers a complete world for you to roam -- a world of incredible beauty and realism with the most detailed environments ever to grace your PC screen. In one seamless flowing world, race across vast outdoor and indoor environments, enter enchanting cities, mysterious temples, glittering mines, shattered ships, and crystal clear waters. Unreal delivers this cutting-edge realism on computers using a Pentium 166 or higher. And for those of you lucky enough to have a Pentium II, MMX technology or a video accelerator, the Unreal realms will become your reality.
Not that itll be easy: with Unreal's array of fierce new fully polygonal enemies stalking your every move, itll be a struggle just to survive. Youll have some help, of course: with an arsenal of incredible new weapons at your disposal, you should at least have a fighting chance against the Skaarj and their allies. But with over 300 frames of animation apiece, and monster AI (that's Artificial Intelligence to you) from Steve ("ReaperBot") Polge, your adversaries will be smarter, meaner, and more alive than any youve ever faced. Which means that just when you think you've got them beat, they'll retreat, team up, and take you out later.
They might even be tougher than your friends when you take them on in multiplayer mode. Of course, home-court advantage always helps, and with the Unreal Editor--Unreals easy to use object-oriented level editor--theyll be fighting on levels of your own design in no time. Or youll be fighting on theirs. Either way, the Unreal realms are growing...

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
hmmm.... I think I remember seeing this deleted scene when I played Unreal for the very first time! This was when I had a very old PC and had one of the very first releases of Unreal that my dad bought when it was released. I heard about a certain version of Unreal being very rare, but I am not too sure if it is this or not. I'll describe it for you:
The cover of this game came with a product catalog that had a mouse pad, taridium coffee mug, posters, hats, and others as well. (I wish I could buy those now). This cover also had the beta krall and skaarj on the front of it, as well as the Nali Castle which looked more like the beta version! Even more, this game, with no patches applied, has the Unreal beta weapon sound effects!
Anyways, about the warlord that I saw:
I couldn't exactly see everything clearly due to a very old PC and not having a patch installed, but when I stepped out of the Vortex Rikers and walked towards the brutes, I saw some huge figure just standing there............. (this scared the crap out of me when I saw this thing. I was only 9 years old, by the way.) He performed the same exact animations as shown in the video. He even flew in the correct path after you approached him. So I do believe that this is truly a deleted scene.

The version I have also had the catalog with all those neat merchandise in it, but the Beta Krall and Skaarj are on the back of the catalog. A Titan in the battle area of Velora is on the front.
However, no Warlord scene.

Can you install it and check if there's still the warlord? And perhaps upload that nyleve version and check for other differences?

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
I picked up a couple of strategy guides for Unreal a year after it first came out for collection purposes (and because one of them had a soundtrack disk and an early walkthrough to UED1 by Epic), and from what I remember those things made mention of some elements of the game that did not make it to the final release, leaving me to believe that there was indeed a version of the game available to select parties prior to it's actual release date. Some of them contained things that must have been cut from the game in the last month or so of testing. For example, I was given Unreal as a gift from a friend of my uncle about a couple of weeks before the game actually hit the stores, and it was a blank looking gold disc (a copy) with a loose game manual. However, my version was what was in the stores.
But I've talked to people over the years that mention things not being in the final version, and these two strategy guides detail them very well. Things like the Warlord being present at NyLeve, a Rifle being in the game with a rapid burst shot Alternate instead of a scope, the "drop" in Extreme End not being a cutscene but a sort of player controlled plunge that had to be done properly or they would splat (it seemed they originally made more references to the Roller Coaster dream sequence in the game manual's backstory originally, although the ending sequence still references this more or less directly), and there were some other things I can't quite recall because they were not as major (some graphical details left out for guns I think, and unused enemies like the Giant Manta and Squid appearing).

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
In 98 I played a version of Unreal, that I don't know which version it actually was, if it was some late RC or what.
But Vortex Rikers was different, there was forcefield and probably even living humans, or what seemed as so, maybe not, it was hard to tell behind the forcefield. NyLeve was merged with Vortex2 in one map...I think brutes had different skins, the entry room to chizra was a separate level and so on. And at least one bonus "sky" map, I remember looking down at the sky and birds were there from some kind of balcony and there were strange creatures, maybe these were krall, I don't remember, but I remember them being more yellow and having sharp teeth, weird really, maybe one of their older skins.
And about Warlord being there...I don't really remember if he was or not...I don't recall him, but I cold have easily missed him, or maybe I was looking down the waterfall when he flew away.
Also there was still in CHizra that blockade thing left from beta, when the floor opens, it traps you in and you fall down below to the room where you have to find a button on the wall, rather in beginning of the level, you know what I mean..

I know that I have seen this warlord in this level sometime before though, but I guess it wasn't in this version.... sorry about that.
Maybe he was present in Unreal Gold? My friend said that he may have seen him in there, although I'm pretty sure that he's lying.....

No...couldn't be ugold for sure....maybe some of the old patches added the warlord and removed him later? the old beta patches.
Or it really was some pre release version, as the one I played.

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
I have an old strategy guide refering to these things too : the controlled jumped you had to make, the burst fire mode for the rifle... On the pictures I can also see that at that time, the chairs in the cockpit of ISV Kran were different too. However, no reference to the warlord in nyleve. I reinstalled my copy of the game to take a look (it's one of the first that hitted the shelves here) and it doesn't have it.But I've talked to people over the years that mention things not being in the final version, and these two strategy guides detail them very well. or a smart person ads the warlord in Nyleve and renames the lvl,and uploads it somewhere,i mean the alarmpoints are already in nyleve, all they did was removing the warlord,if u dont believe. open up nylve in the editor and u'll see the alarmpoints and triggers ::)now we just need someone to add the warlord (sorry but i suck at triggered events,im a MP mapper, not SP,and yeah i actualy never upload my maps, cuz i dont have the guts to finish a map im working onman..... If only if I could travel time and get that version of Unreal.......

If you still can find the originl somewhere that would be better. I mean perhaps there was even a trigger or the warlord was set a bit better and i don't know his exact location.

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
I noticed that you have to be awfully close to the Warlord for him to move. I touched him before he moved. If you still can find the originl somewhere that would be better. I mean perhaps there was even a trigger or the warlord was set a bit better and i don't know his exact location.
This scene is a very good introduction to the Warlord, but I guess they deleted this scene because when he goes away and fires the rocket, it can harm the player.
They also may have wanted to make the Brute encounter a little more frightening because after you see the warlord, you won't be scared of the them :)
About finding the original: I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that I don't know anywhere else that I can find this seemingly lost level.
However, I do recall seeing a different looking version of Unreal for sale somewhere in eBay. Just type in "unreal 1998" in the search bar and see what you get.
Hmm, right now, the only versions that come with the manual are the Mac ones......gay!
Oh, btw, I heard about you trying to get the Unreal PSX levels and covert them or whatever. I know this is a little off-topic, but for the moment: how are you doing so far? I'm really interested in this.

Re: Unreal Deleted Scene
Well...that's it....I need really people to try searching for stuff (so it would help if you really could find that version), I am not only trying to recover Unreal PSX stuff, but that is where I at least partially succeded. You can read the whole story at http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=185852
except that N64 port of Unreal was developed by DMA, that was a little mistake by me back then.
As you can see, lots of expectations were made....only in the end to realize that my efforts have been a bit blocked by legal issues and stuff. I am still not giving up though, and I hope Nathan will at least release the levels from the other LDs, or send them to me at least. Eric Reuter(and he was their lead level designer) has given me full permissions to release them or modify them.
