And than i asume you will use it, that would be super cool actually :) . Good snowmaps are my favorites, its just a pitty theres only a few of them. But last winter i was able to take alot of good photos from snow, which hopefully will result in a snow utx package soon.

Np. :) Also if you need some seashore footsteps, tell me. Sand? More sand? Shallow sea? DEEP sea? :D I'm buying a new microphone (for recording, not talkz) this or next week and next week in Wednesday the school is over :D so I'll mess around with stuff, music, sounds, etc., I'm working on a new psybient track too, I'll see how it goes btw I can make footstep sounds in sea. :D Oh I already said that... Well anyway, the offers are still standing, if you need something, I'll be more than glad to put my two dollars in. :D

I could help with the sounds too. I work as a sound engineer so I have access to top quality equipment for recording and a bunch of sample cds used by the best foley artists out there. I uploaded some footstep sounds here a few years ago, but I guess they weren't used.  8-)

I could also help with other SFX like guns, doors, water etc. Music too..

Here's the footsteps sounds I made:

well, anything is welcome :)

But the current system is made a bit different. 4 sounds can - and should be assigned to a texture. The footsteps are played randomly out of these 4 sounds to make it more realistic, so whats needed is for each material (you can check footsteps.uax) 4 sounds as set. In the package I made for some materials more than one set of sounds. In theory the materials I made sounds for should cover most textures but it can be enhanced with more sets any time. Also some sounds are rather poor quality and need a replacement.
Its some work.

Outch, i didnt realize that, so i gave you only oné sound to work with, while i have more. In that case here is a download that contain 4 sounds: FootstepSoundsSnow.zip


All are royalty free. To make them match with eachother i guess have Shivaxi modd them to our needs :)

I am working on the SGC project that will have some 3000+ brandnew textures for Unreal and UT. And i didnt realize that till today, that i can (and should) add sounds to the packages.

But i do wanna know something. If i assemble the packages including  footsteps sounds, what will happen if a non 227 player uses the textures(but is provided with the soundpackage) ?


Does an error occur, or will the sound still be heard, or doesnt happen anything? Mainly if an error occurs, than i should also release an non 227 version as well.

Ahh, i opened the footsteps.uax file in UnrealEd, but i don't know how to make a similar sound package with it ( Is it even possible, or am I just too noob to figure it out? ) :D
I'll cut and polish up the wav-files so that there's at least 4 individual footstep-sounds in each environment.

- Didn't test it to be honest but I'm almost sure it will just ignore it so a separate package won't be needed

In this case the files need to be exported then and can be re-imported later again. But I can send you the "original" wav files if you want to work with these, since I made it?

By the way, I've noticed one thing about footsteps in U1 - all characters (except Skaarj) move/play running animation very quickly, making these sounds play a lot more often than in later Unreal series games...

ok folks, time to bring this topic up again. I need more sounds (sound sets), or if someone wants to edit or "polish" some of the sounds in the current footstepsound package, very welcome, I can upload the original wav files also if wanted.
