OldUnreal (Engine)

I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for that.
I'm actually pretty unhappy because the Oldunreal servers are down again and it very much looks like there is no change soon.
Aside this the last servers I had were in the US and because of my crappy connection I have the best ping I have is usually ~200 with some PL.

I miss the times where I could play some serpentine and monstermash and serpentine monstermash and infiltration and...in a euro server. I play coop sometimes but "normal" DM is currently no real option for me since I'm to slow due my health condition.

I have the impression all euro servers which are left are empty all the time or plain DM, Deck16 all the time and a few (for me) over-modded coopgames.

Thing is, I just don't have much money available to rent a server and my connection here- as mentioned already is completely out of question for such a purpose.

Any real cheap servers for rent known?

I'd be willing to host the servers for you.  I'm actually almost done setting up my server comp at my other house.  It'll be in the U.S. though as that's where I live, but my connection is superb.  People from Europe in my server have barely over 100 ping...sometimes less.

I do have a 5 MBps upload connection, but i'd be too lazy to manage that stuff heh. And I also live in the U.S.

In any case Oldunreal would have own servers again, which is very helpful for me, especially for testing purposes.
Only sad thing is that I don't expect my ping to be better then. As said already, my crappy connection never gave me better than 200, in very rare occasions maybe 160.

So for both of you- So can we give it a try?

In any case still looking for a solution for Euro so if anyone has an idea for that...?

I live in Europe and I have a PC that's not used so totally much and I never turn router off so I have the same IP all the time but I'm afraid of melting my PC down with that... I'm totally short of money, bought a laptop (but it wasn't a mistake trust me ) but if this PC breaks down, I'm gonna suffer a hell again... I won't get a new one for at least 3 years (ok well sooner if I hax0r SpendFriend again but I don't wanna go to jail lol ).

No actually, I'd set it up for you but I'd be to lazy to manage it, like updates and such. If you've ever asked me to host something on my server right now you'd know what I mean about being lazy. I took like 2 weeks to add something once heh. Also another disadvantage is that I tend to turn my server computer off on weekdays, except in summer. So, yeah. I mean if I was going to do this I would probably leave it on but turn my server off instead.

I already do have another Unreal server set up so it could run, but I don't recall how smoothly it runs.

If you need to Smirf, I can grant you access to remotely control my comp with my/your server on it.  Of course like I said before...I still need to get it running first

I might be able to help on the euro part. Currently working on our new european (Amsterdam) infiltration clan server.


Server has tons of resources to spare, so we could make something work. As long as you can live with a system administrator who likes to keep things secure

There's a master server tool available for download at Hyper's site iirc. You could start there. Or if you have Linux, get OpenMSL.

Seeing what Smirf did himself on my comp, I believe you set it up through UCC.

Masterserver thru UCC? If that's possible, everyone would be doing that.

I never even ran a normal server from UCC. I heard that doing so makes your server faster or more stable (One of the two)

from my testing it was far, far more stable, and likely less CPU usage since it doesnt have to interface with windows to render the windows box and other stuff
