It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

What about if someone converted some UT only maps or mappacks? And I don't talk about those huge hard to convert packs, but also about the normal maps which could work in Unreal but were made under UT sadly...there are lot of maps and it would help some coop servers like newbiesplayground.

I know there are some tools for that purpose, but no idea what these are capable of- in theory "only" botpack content needs to be stripped out

Interestingly enough, I have found a few tools that can allow you to convert DOOM maps to Unreal's .t3d format. Unfortunately, the DUKEUNR program does not work for me, and I can only find one copy on the web from some Czech site. There is however a link to a copy on Fileplanet, but I don't want to pay for an account.

protip : file planet is free for non-pay accounts, you just have to wait like rapidshare.

also, dukeunr didn't work for me either. I wish it did, then I could port my duke3d maps to unreal...

Me and Adaghar managed to port some Quake 1 maps to Unreal. Only problem was getting the texturing lol. We'd have to re-do ALL the texturing unfortuntly :-/ But importing the geometry worked fine

I used the dukeunr and it worked for me, I exported E2M2 from DOOM that way as t3d. I might have the file still, I did it in 2005.

EDIT: No it was not dukeunr, I remember I had to convert it to Quake3 and then from that to Unreal...there was a tutorial for that...

Anyway Botpack content can be scrapped but also imported to mylevel in those maps, however is anyone wanting to do that?
Also there was meant to be Unreal version of Zephon mappack, but they never did that one.

And as for quake maps, I exported the missionpack 2 map before too:

I have no idea where....I have it in my favorites in my normal computer and I cannot look. :(
Anyway try search for Doom to Unreal, doom map to unreal, convert, whatever, you might cross through it.

Btw wasn't there ONP and Deja Vu converting projects? I remember playing that online for once, I think ONP conversion was done by dots and deja vu one by jackrabbit, any chance you will finish those projects guys? Or are they finished?

I considered making a Unreal version of Xidia many years back but lost interest in that. I think some packs were made so reliant on things that only UT could provide at the time they were made that it's just a lot of work to port them now. That, and the fact that many teams that put these packs together are either dissolved or invested in ongoing things makes it hard.

I have been working on a standalone single map for the last year or so that I've been meaning to finish that would be for both platforms. But who knows when that'll get done.

Well, many people who are playing only Unreal coop for now would like to get the UT maps for Unreal.
I think someone could convert them and there were already two projects I think, but it seems they were not released.

Plus there was planned the official Zephon port as well.
I could ask Cardiologist etc, but now I don't have UT here so I am relied only on Unreal and I am afraid it will stay that way for while.
I would like to play the packs in Unreal too...

There are not that many things that UT could provide better and most of the things can be ported, although of course for UT it is easier.

Good to hear about the map, looking forward that one.  ;)

Also: Legacy would be easy to port over to Unreal (many of the system files even work under Unreal), the project started at Unreal, with whitepalace map and that flyby legacy demo map.
The problem is getting the hub system to work in coop, I rememeber that nobody runs these maps in coop beacuse of that.

This is DM-Tutorial from UT. Very small, only a few KB when RARed :D But has nice textures.
To make it work, you'll have to either path Unreal to UT or copy and paste textures and Course music.

There has been various unreal UT DM remakes already, mostly from pitbull, even including UT actors...they can be found around here I think...but dm tutorial was not converted, thanks for that one. :P

I'm also almost finished converting DM-SpaceNoxx (as Darksider said, there were no problems importing and exporting FractalFX textures). Bots are fairly intelligent, too. But it will be 227-only because of jump pads.

I am still working on re-releasing all the UT textures for Unreal, even the working ones. And for follow reasons.

- To minimise countless ports to ureal, and all mismatches that goes with it.
- To be able to add S3TC support but without the skating player glitch that haunts UT while playing online :(
- To have S3TC support all together for the UT packages that have them and lack in Unreal.





But its alot of work, and assembling the packages isnt such a problem, its adding all the proper Detail textures to it. That last makes it frankly said a horrible job to do.

And as side project, i am willing to also redo the most important SP map(packs) to make them compatible with the project.

3 sidenotes
- I still need a better name for the project.
- The procedural texture problems may have been solved. But still need some testing.
- No clue when i will make the first releases, i got already alot of work on my hands.

SpaceNoxx was already converted, I had it in my server I think....
Anyway I asked for singleplayer/coop maps, not the stock DM ones... :P

The reason I ask is because I didn't know this problem existed. If I ever plan to port any of my SP stuff I'd be curious as to the kind of sets that don't cross over.

I've looked through the SpaceNoxx that already exists, and I don't like it because of bot pathing (whoever converted that removed all the vital JumpSpots!) and the map size - you should never add textures to MyLevel! And there are changes, like there are no more boulders flying around and instead of an amp, you have armor. Jump pads are also very inaccurate...

Yeah most of the UT converted levels are like that..they have stuff in myelevel, even that pitbull's pack (however it was called), but I think pitbull did it accurately.
