It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

How to run Unreal on Linux?
Yes, I checed the FAQ (http://www.oldunreal.com/wiki/index.php ... _Linux_FAQ).
It didn't say what to double-click to run Unreal.
I used my brain and double-clicked on "UnrealLinux.bin" but Linux only says "Cannot open package".
I tried to start "UnrealLinux.bin" from command line but it just says "command not found".
Then I added "bash" command, but then command line says "cannot execute binary file".
What I did before all this:
I copy-pasted original Unreal files to Windows and patched them with "UnrealPatch227fWinLin.zip".
Then I made new zip-file of patched Unreal which I copied to USB-stick which I connected to Linux computer. Then I extracted all files to Linux desktop in folder "unreal".
Linux is Ubuntu 9.03.

Then I changed permissions but it still says that.

Re: How to run Unreal on Linux?
You must change permission to executable.
We have two installers for Linux on forum (unofficial).
http://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/ ... 41027403/0
and
http://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/ ... 1243197410
You don't need Wine to make native version.
p.s : Ubuntu 9.04 not 3
Code: Select all
chmod +x UnrealLinux.bin
and type
./UnrealLinux.binhttp://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/ ... 41027403/0

Re: How to run Unreal on Linux?
Thank you! Unreal works like a charm on my Linux comp.
Now getting to the real point:
How to make Unreal server on Linux?
I did all settings (my router too), but MasterServerUplink (or similar) were missing in Default.ini (I mean the Linux default.ini) and LinuxUnreal.ini.
So I typed manually that setting, but the server still doesn't show up in server list. It will show up in LAN-list.
Is there any firewalls/security settings to set up in Ubuntu (port opening ect.)?
And I don't remember how to start server from UCC.
Sorry, I mistyped my Ubuntu version before. My Ubuntu is 8.10 alternate.

Re: How to run Unreal on Linux?
just a warning, but most non-standard characters can't be transmitted on a linux server for some reason. Stuff like é and ÿ. They are replaced with that ever-familiar pixelated box.
I believe you run it by using ./UCCLinux Server {params}
