Remember the Beta Automag?

Yeah, I called it the Holy Grail, but apparently it isn't. Anyway, Turboman actually ported the Beta Automag to Unreal! I took screenshots but they're HUGE! Each one is 2MB and I took quite a few. I guess I'll just post the two most important ones.

The following screenshots were taken in Drake Spyker (AKA Drake_Osiris)'s server:
Normal Automag:

And the Beta Automag (actually, this ones a modded version, but it doesn't matter):

The difference is night and day!

When I asked Drake Spyker (formerly Drake_Osiris) about it, he told me that Shivaxi should know who ported it. Don't go pestering him, though, as he has it on his site for download.

I think Turboman deserves a huge Thank You and a shiny, expensive medal for doing this.

the real holy grail would be activating shadows in unreal >_>

Goddang... you're right. Sorry, I'm dead tired.... Okay, so would this be.... the lesser holy grail? Or is it a gem that gem hunters (modders) have had trouble recovering?

at the very least it's cool, at the most its omfg beta material in current unreal, still worth mentioning by any means

I would go ahead and say that we finally have all beta items and pawns in Unreal. Wouldn't you agree? ;D

By the way, I included the link to download in the first post.

I see where the Enforcer got its inspiration.

I gave TurboMan the proper credit, but credit to Gizzy as well for make it dual.  I don't have the original single handed one only though.  And KillSkaarj, I'd appreciate if the link was changed to www.freewebs.com/shivaxi instead of www.noodle.co.nr as my Da Noodle clan no longer exists.

I really need to figure out how to delete that co.nr redirect one :P

Anyonegot a  link to the normal 1 handed version?
Here ya go:

http://www.freewebs.com/unrealgizzy/FWT ... etamag.rar

This is the original version of the Betamag, with the 3-burst alt-fire.
Again, thanks go Turboman, who was kind enough to give me the source to this.

Btw, about shadows, I have seen from some videos and shots that star trek deep space nine:the fallen game has realtime shadows on unreal engine 1.

My thanks goes to the mysterious person who sent me the basic betamag files years ago, he requested me to fix them, and i did but never heard from him again.

oh and ofcourse thanks to Gizzy for releasing it, as i was too busy to do it myself!

ps: the original betamag contained a different hand texture, i used the automag texture instead to make it fit the final game more :)

Wait you didn't make the first person model? I remember you saying you will make a first person model based on these videos etc.
So someone sent you the real first person model back then? Perhaps you should have left that model as optional...also did he have the original beta or something?

The original model was broken, i had to redo alot of it, more work then we expected it to be, i created a skeleton and synched it with the automag to retain as much as possible.
I never talked with him about it, where he got it from and such, and never heard from him again, i doubt anyone knows him, his name was Dorbeck.

There's alot of treasures to be found in the unreal community, what i'm dying to obtain myself are the original animation files used for the unreal creatures.
Dave Carter, the main modeller for epic games released all the unreal creature and item models in 3d studio max format (fully skeletal animated), unfortunately his site dissapeared in 2000.
http://web.archive.org/web/200012021911 ... amage.com/
If we'd be able to obtain these, we could re-import every creature... with the new skeletal animation format, this would allow for limitless possibilities for a remodelling project!

In the hopes of obtaining these one day i still have an ancient copy of 3dsmaxR2 for windows 3.1 :D
