How do I import sounds in Unreal?
This time I don't want to put my sounds in the .u file, but in a separate .uax file instead. Tbh I've never done this before, because I always imported a sound or two in a small package that was final when I released it, but this one is for my game type and it's gonna be huge in some time, so it's better to make a separate file, right? Btw, how do I do this lol?????

Open UED, open the sound browser, go to file--->import and choose your .WAV file. Then you'll get prompted to enter a
Package name, group and a name for the sound. After this, click save.

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
I already tried that, what I get after importing a sound is just a list of all sounds currently loaded (with my sound not on that list, of course), and if I try to save that, it just does not save it. Might be related to loss of other config and weird behavior I posted here. http://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/ ... 1243326651

Er... If you have 225, try using that to import the sounds, then move the .uax to your Unreal227/sounds directory. (Or wherever you have 227 installed)

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
I don't have 225, I don't have Unreal CD and I don't even have a place to put CD.
Is there another way aka 227f?

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
The "list of sounds" means that import failed. Open your log and see why. Probably a space in your import path, or the sound is stereo, or has an odd bitrate etc. Look into Wiki, Importing Sounds article: http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/

Just MSN me the sounds and I'll do it for you lol. I'll walk you through it as well as how to do it. They have to be converted to a specific format which I believe is 8bit mono 22050 or something like that

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
I think the only 2 limitations are the bit rate (I'm pretty sure it has to be 8bit....but MAAAYBE it can be 16bit...not sure) and the length of the sound. Whenever I try to import a sound that's around 30 seconds long...it fails. I cut the time in half (or sometimes more in certain cases) then it works fine :-/With all these limitations, I suppose I'm lucky whenever I import a sound and it works.

There's the mono limitation. (Actually, what would you do with a stereo sound in a 3D world anyway?)

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
Here's your problem, DarkSider. When you're importing the sound, put the .WAV file in your Sounds folder for Unreal. I tried importing straight from the desktop but it didn't work. Once I put it in the Sounds folder, it imported perfectly.
If this doesn't solve your problem, then I'm stumped.

Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
That's because of the difference between paths:Here's your problem, DarkSider. When you're importing the sound, put the .WAV file in your Sounds folder for Unreal. I tried importing straight from the desktop but it didn't work. Once I put it in the Sounds folder, it imported perfectly.

Your Sounds folder:
C:\Unreal\Sounds
Your Desktop:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Desktop
Notice a space anywhere?

I can import sounds from anywhere and it still works, it's only very rarely UED refuses to do it.Here's your problem, DarkSider. Re: How do I import sounds in Unreal?
the only way i can import sounds is if i place the .wav file in my C:\ directory, and import it from there. the wave file's audio quality didnt matter (mono/stereo/high/low quality), just place the sound file in C:\
i guess its some weird bug that it cant import from a path longer than X characters.. dunno

Lol I don't really use spaces in file names. That's because of the difference between paths:Here's your problem, DarkSider.
