UMX section extractor?

Do you know of any program that would extract sections from UMXs to a normal format? I know ModPlug can save UMX files, but not whole. I also know that UTPT can extract them as S3M, but not sure if full as well. And I also know that there are Winamp plugins for playing UMX, but I don't like Winamp. Anything else?

audacity is maybe of help here (audacity.sourceforge.net). Iirc it supports all needed formats too.
Aside this I use xmplay with some plugins (
www.un4seen.com) for playing, a great clean and very small player and I think this is what I used to convert to mp3 later (its been a while)

I have Audacity, and it won't open UMX. XMPlay doesn't give me anything I haven't heard before (lol, what a name, like eXpanded MultiPlay

).
I'll try ModPlug tracker.

Audacity is much more useful if you want to combine multiple wav tracks into a longer one, I used it to make .OGG's of most of Unreal 2's dynamic music.

UMR is useful(but buggy) tool for extracting media from unreal packages.
And dumb2wav can convert it to wav.

I once made a whole pack of the different sections of several Unreal songs. I didn't get to do all of them because I lost the files in a reformat along time ago. I believe I posted them at Hyper.nl's forums around that time before the reformat. Hyper downloaded and tested the ones that I had put up for download. I think he might still have it.

It's as simple as chemistry:
UMX UnrealEd> MOD/S3M/XM/IT ModPlug Tracker> WAV/OGG/MP3

No... ModPlug Tracker is crap compared to the original sound from Unreal. The one played from U1 has a real feeling of 3D, while the ModPlug'ged seems to be plain mono...

I usually get better sound when I export over ModPlug... Did you mess with its settings? If you didn't, try to do so to get a better quality. Oh, and don't forget to set your audio driver. Legacy support sucks.

Yea, I didn't achieve anything, and in Unreal it sounds a lot better... If you're interested, I'm using OpenAL with these settings:
ALDevices=DefaultDevice
DopplerFactor=0.000000
UseOriginalUnreal=True
SoundVolume=192
UseReverb=True
AmbientFactor=0.700000
MusicVolume=128
Channels=64
OutputRate=48000Hz
UseDigitalMusic=True
bSoundAttenuate=True

I'm afraid I'm not able to post my settings (PC still fubar). But as far as I remember, I'm using Galaxy (others don't work).

That might be be why the music sounds better in ModPlug. Use OpenAL and it will be even better!

Well, I have a new PC, I just need to take it from dad. So I think it could work now.

Seeing how many people in the community do something with music, what about compiling Unreal music into non-looping music tracks, kinda like UT3 Soundtrack for UT3 was made? Would be pretty cool IMO. Especially if you keep the surround sound quality.
Also, do anyone know if NewMCA12 was used anywhere in the game?
Oh, and Darksider, try enabling UseSurround in the Galaxy options, and then compare Eversmoke in game and in a media player.

I was under the impression that bUseSurround is\was broken...

Hmm, tested myself, and UseSurround does change the sound a little in Galaxy, but far from what you hear in FMOD and OpenAL.

There is possibility that my life is infected with Win32/Virut, so even if I make my PC work, I'll maybe have to wipe my HDD, and possibly, my whole site, so I won't be able to test my new hardware for some time. And I have to buy a new HDD to backup random bullsh*t from my HDD, blah blah, forget what I said, etc.
I have another problem on my laptop, sometimes when I go into Unreal, the sound is fu[ch829]cked up like my speakers are broken, but when I restart Unreal, it goes away. That quite often happens with DX1 on my dad's PC (the über-god-PC one). I think that's because of dual core, but everybody knows I'm B$ing.

Nope, CPU architecture doesn't affect this.

I have this issue sometimes with UT99 on my laptop. Restart UT, then it's fixed. Weird..

OT: Confirmed: I'm clean of Win32/Virut. Anyway, what idiot made that B$, can't he spell 'virus' or something?!

By the way, ever wondered why "Win32"? Because you both use Windows and with x32 architecture. Would go away entirely if you switched over to x64 (dual core only though) or not use Windows...
