Server Issue

Hi ppl. I've run a little server from my pc on and off for quite some time now. Last week I got a nasty virus. The virus has been completely removed, but for whatever reason my server will not show in the MasterServer list. I didn't do any type of formatting at all, everything is the exact same way it was before I removed the virus. I am behind a router, but as I said, those settings are the same as well (port forwarding). I even ruled out the router issue by having a direct connection to the pc. Firewall and any AV are disabled as well. I cannot even see the server in the LAN tab, nor can I join by entering the LAN IP or "real" IP. If needed, I can post a copy of the server log. Everything in there looks fine as well. Never had this issue before, any idea why it would be doing this all of a sudden? Thanks in advance!

There could be several issues but start here>>>this is right off Hyper's site and has some good quick reference for master server info>>>
When you run an Unreal server it's good to uplink it to multiple master servers to make sure the players can always find your server, even when the official master server would be unavailable. To get your server listed, you need to do the following:
1.
Install Nephthys 1.1 or higher (Warning: Follow included instructions carefully!)
2.
Close your Unreal server and open your servers Unreal.ini file (Note: This file may also be called Server.ini or whatever you use.)
3.
Disable the lines starting with "ServerActors=IPServer.UdpServerUplink" by placing a ";" in front of them:
;ServerActors=IPServer.UdpServerUplink...
4.
Nephthys 1.1 uses its own master server uplink you need to use from now. It's compatible with the old IPServer method. Here is an example configuration:
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.qtracker.com MasterServerPort=27900 QueryPort=7778
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.thenerdnetwork.com MasterServerPort=27900
The first line is for the default GameSpy master, the second line for the QTracker master server. Change the QueryPort if necessary. The last line is for the official TheNerdNetwork master server. Of course you can add or remove lines where needed.
5.
When everything is configured correctly you can save your .ini file and start the server again.
BTW if your not using Nephthys I HIGHLY recommend you do...
Cheers,
Bass

heeeeeeeere u gooooooooooooooo the lucky eleven solutions:
1. tried deleting your unreal.ini? u might have something ticked that prevents ur server from starting.. deleting unreal.ini will just create a new fresh copy
2. u can have ur firewall turned on and still host a server (like me mwhuahahahaa), just make sure u have everything ported right. u need port 7778 (by default) in virtual server (as well as port forwarding, depending on your router)
3. did your computer change IP after the virus attack? (instead of being 192.168.2.120 u became 192.168.2.121) if so, the ports no longer work, u need to redo them
4. do u have anti-virus software that u installed after the virus attack? or any other security program? this could be blocking the connection.
5. what kind of virus was it? did it mess with ur internet? if so the problem will most likely be found there
6. u can always try to re-install your network drivers. the virus might have messed something up there
7. do u see the server when u select the 'All Servers' tab? if so, it must be out there
(9 is such a blow to the face, there's no need to have a solution number
9. (this bit can be dangerous) if u want to see whether it has ANYTHING to do with your internet, in your router setup, list your local IP in the DMZ option. DMZ prevents ANY sort of security from u to the internet, meaning u got a clean sexy internet line straight up to the net. all firewall/NAT/routing features are disabled. u can quickly try this for a few days, but dont use this permanently as it is potentially dangerous. if ur server still does not show up, it's most likely a software problem, maybe re-install unreal or something, god knows
10. reformat ur computer and set up everything from scratch once again...
11. move to another country and set up a server there (this is bound to work lawl omg isnt roland a funny guy.. ye... so funny)

The virus has been completely removed
Is it a virus, a trojan, a worm or a backdoor? Pls say, because you can never be sure you've got rid of it without formatting, and most
viruses can't be deleted without killing their host programs as well. Tell me the name of that virus, and maybe I can get its source (!!) and tell you what to do to make 104,5% sure you're clean.

Not sure what the name was. It WAS a trojan, keygenerator to be exact. It made my connection receive multiple packets. If you'd like, I can pm you the wireshark packet capture log I have.

Please do. And if you can get any more info, please PM me or post here.
Btw, AntiVir just deleted 2 trojans and 3 backdoors from my old HDD, now I'm even cleaner, if not totally.

I think this may be the prob...I'm not sending any packets through my connection. I'm receiving a good amount of them, but I'm not sending any.

[IpServer.UdpServerUplink]
DoUplink=True
UpdateMinutes=1
MasterServerAddress=
MasterServerPort=27900
Region=0
is probably your answer

Unreal.ini was like that already, I think I may have a corrupt registry key. I can't send packets PERIOD, Unreal or otherwise.

format and reinstall windows if _nothing_ can send packets out, unless you're actually talking to us through it right now.. :p

FYI>> A wireless Unreal server is rarely successful due to dropped packets.....your clients may not have a very good experience.......... good luck :-)

Actually, it runs pretty good. And I only really run it to test maps that I convert from UT. Plus it's mainly for a good friend of mine and some family members that live in my area that wanna play from time to time w/o being harassed by other players

P.S. It's fixed now, I ran windows recovery console and did a repair. Thanks to all you guys that gave suggestions, I really appreciate it!
