My Unreal Playthrough

Hi, guys! I'm currently doing a playthrough of Unreal 1 and uploading it to Youtube. I'm trying to spread the word of this game so that more people can appreciate it. If you guys want, you can check it out on my channel at http://www.youtube.com/SkaarjGuy and click on the Unreal Playthrough playlist. At the time of posting this, I have 3 parts up, and I'm in the process of uploading two more. I strongly recommend you rate and comment on the videos, because they're so... empty without comments.
Hope you guys like it, and may the word about Unreal 1 spread among the ranks of FPS fanatics!! [/shameless plug]

I was hoping to do a walkthrough as well, but my computer doesn't have the space for Fraps videos.

Awesome! I see you've taken elements from the various "Let's Play _____" videos. Good luck with your reviews!

Thanks man. Yes, I was inspired by various Let's Players over Youtube. Eventually, I thought Unreal needed the LP treatment. It's such a great game, it can't go unnoticed.

Unfortunately, my connection is too slow to watch videos on YouTube.
Well, I was kinda started making tutorial about Unreal too a month ago but knew how it'll end up, resting eternally on my HDD with nowhere to go.

I don't see your playthrough, Stalker. Is it on your website or is it somewhere else? Then again, I didn't look through the entire site before I remembered to update mine. Oh well.

All I saw was a video showing a mod?

well we just made a new 20 minute video using 227 and the high res s3tc textures but google video site screwed us up so now it's not working.
I do have another video on youtube but it's not with the high res textures.

By the way, it could be a good idea to upload videos to other sites, like
http://own3d.at/ that allows longer than 10 minutes video and gives good quality. Google Videos add that site to the search as well. Though there is no category option for U1, but you could probably select UT99 or no option at all, not sure.

Or upload to
http://thedarkside-euromirror.site50.net/.
Well, the server is in US, but I called it euromirror... Was I drunk or what?

Oh, nvm.
All uploaded files are public for now, when I make a login system for my main page (
http://thedarkside.net63.net/), I'll rip it and paste it to the mirror.
BTW, can anyone upload the 227 patch to the mirror?

Hmm?
This website was set to be removed for inactivity by
www.000webhost.com. If you own this website, click here to protect it.
And that way it won't be a streaming video. People who have slow internet (like you and me) don't like seeing non-streaming videos...

About that "removed for inactivity", it's merely a bug, cuz I restored the domain after it got deleted for inactivity for real.
Furthermore, I can't see streaming videos; when I load up a video in YouTube, go away from my PC for 10 minutes, it loads ~00:10 min of the video.

That sometimes happens to me too, but rarely. The good thing of streaming videos is that it reduces the size of the video and lets you watch it without having to wait an hour.

I doubt my connection is that slow. I think it's a browser bug (of course, as with everything on my PC, including shell32.dll, etc., I messed up Firefox's "profile" folder.)

Lol believe it or not, I got a video project to do for IT.
So, I'm gonna make a playthrough anyway.

Hey KillerSkaarj,
I saw part 12 yesterday and was wondering when you're going to continue uploading? I really enjoyed the videos, although sometimes I don't get what you're saying (no native-speaker) because of your hasty way of speaking :) . But anyways, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming parts of your playthrough!

Well, when I tried recording the next parts, Fraps started lagging the game too much and I died. That made me put off recording. But now that you've reminded me, I'm gonna go record the next levels and then commentate on them tomorrow.

AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH FRAPS IS SO ANNOYING!
Does anybody know a FREE normally working program for recording games into a compressed format? Cuz DivX's trial is over and XviD converter doesn't work, the question is does the codec work at all.

By the way, guys. I forgot to tell you but I actually received the video card in the mail. The website I ordered from said the estimated arrival date was Dec. 23rd. "Estimated" nothing! It arrived exactly on Dec 23rd at 8:00 AM. I suggest you shop at Geeks.com for you computer tech needs, one order and I'm already impressed with them.
About the card, It's, as I've said in the LP, an Nvidia 6200 with TurboCache (dunno what "turbocache" does, but it sounds important XD). Unreal 2 and UT2K4 run PERFECTLY on highest settings. I actually squee'd with glee when I heard the announcer yell "HOLY SH*T!" on UT2K4. The unexpected (read: totally freaking
awesome ) side effect was that it brought my System RAM
up from 504 MB to 512 MB, meaning I am able to play UT3 (on really low settings) AND Spore (on normal settings, I guess). I guess the integrated chipset I had was hogging the other 8 MB and the video card overrode it, thus bringing it up.
Anyway, as soon as the Unreal 1 LP is done, I'm gonna do the Unreal 2 LP!

And maybe RTNP after that, I dunno. And if Unreal 3 is ever announced and released, you can bet I'll LP that too.

Oh, I'm glad to hear that *joy*. If I could make a humble request: It would be great if you'd continue with RTNP instead of U2, since I wasn't able to play U2 yet (outdated computer) :).

Oh, that could be arranged. I've actually contemplated doing both at the same time, actually. By the way, I totally forgot to upload parts 13 and 14 because I was spending the last few days trying to fix UT3.
