BTW, I started my own playthrough video of Unreal....done in UT2K4!
This looks cool. Apparently there are more things you can do in the Unreal universe than I thought. I like it. I wonder how this works.

Ah, I was wondering when some one would do that.
Oh, and I'll get the disk back, but you won't get to see the LP as my computer is running on a barebones version of WinXP that doesn't let me connect to the internet. Currently, I'm typing this up via my computer phone.
Oh, and since the OS is so dull, I decided to install the drivers for my video card from the disk that came with it and see if UT3 works. If it does, and it continues to work, I'm gonna keep my computer like this until I buy a new one.
As for the LP, it's now on hold until further notice. I mean really, how do you expect me to upload videos on a computer that's not connected to the internet?
Oh, and by the way Darksider, I actually have with me an oldish computer that has two HDDs in it. Maybe I should install one of 'em...
EDIT: WOOHOOO!!!! I am a FRIGGIN' COMPUTER GENIUS. I successfully diagnosed and fixed my internet connection!
What was the problem? My computer has a built in Network chipset, and the drivers for the chipset are installed with the OS. Unfortunately, I didn't use the eMachines disk, so what did I do? I installed a new network card (well, relatively new. It's actually several years old, but it was still in its original packaging when I found it and looked brand new) then located the driver disk and installed the Network Card's drivers. One restart later, Internet is up and running PERFECTLY. Which means once I get the Unreal Gold disk, I can continue the playthrough! Until then, however, it's still on hold.
So yeah, I'mma go install some Windoze updates now.

I'm still wondering what to do for my "unreal speed run" I'm sure everyone would think it's boring to see a unstoppable half-dragon or a pink PTMC combat drone that is telepathically controlled by Mew, completely devastate the Unreal 1 campaign...

You're right. Even unlimited JumpBoots do that.

"unlimited JumpBoots" don't necessarily grant anything other than infinite high jump, what I'm talking about is full 360 degrees of motion, laser cannons, shields, and concussion missiles for the Mew combat drone, and virtual immortality and infinite strength, flight and underwater breath for the half-dragon... Not to mention I made him able to wield a specially crafted assault gun, and he can walk underwater thanks to the 1000 pounds of steel on his feet.

OK guys, as with everything else computer related, as soon as something good happens, something worse follows, namely the return of the very viruses which caused me to reformat in the first place!!!
JunkPoly and Vitro have returned, and even brought a bunch of new friends, one of then being a ridiculously obnoxious virus that feels the need to tell me that it's infected the computer over and over again, changing my desktop background to a flashing sign telling me that there is dangerous malware on my comp while at the same time not letting me change it back, and keeps on interrupting the Internet connection.
Long story short, I deleted the whole partition, created a new one, and am now formatting it. NO virus could survive a partition deletion, and I hope there will never be one that can *knocks on wood*

Unless it manages to spread to another partition before you delete it.
(God Forbid)
I recommend AVG.

It actually did. They infected the recovery partition, which is why it kept bluescreening. So I deleted every single partition. Now the computer's up and running, virus free. Now I just need to install updates and drivers and we're good to go.

That's good to hear. In my humble ears it sounds pretty non-dramatic (if that's a proper word). So why all the hurly-burly? It was all about your precious data, right? Well, if it comforts you, I'll have to go through the same process this weekend. My computer is suffering too from diverse trojan-/virus-assaults. Now he's telling me, there is no audio-card installed, when I try to play music-files (although every other sound works), prompting every 10 seconds a mysterious "svchos.exe - Application Error", hangs up for no reason, doesn't let me access the harddrive directly from My Computer end so forth...
I'm afraid every Widows-user has to go through this every now and then. Now I'm going to spend some Euros for an external harddrive in order to save some files at least. And then I think I better figure out how to create several partitions, for I'm not really a PC-specialist :) .
edit: it's "svchost.exe"

It really seems you all need a good Linux install. Really. There are absolutely NO viruses on Linux, Linux can run virtually any application and as long as it has OpenGL support - without bugs. Plus, everything works nicely out of the box. For example, Windows always has problems with internet connection. I have no idea why, but it either can't find/install the network card, get the IP from the ISP, needs some strange settings changed etc. While on Linux, you plug in the network cable and it works. You don't need to do anything, it just works. We switched like 5 types of internet connection, all types caused trouble on Windows, none caused any sort of inconvenience on Linux. The only downside is that there's no UT3 natively for Linux, but as soon as they finish it, I'll no longer need this Windows partition, really. Or if Wine sorts out their mouse problems.
Now I just need to install updates and drivers and we're good to go.

Oh, I've actually found a ridiculous case of overreacting. One guy, who was working on several projects for Unreal and other games, actually "suspended" development on them because a TROPICAL STORM was heading his way. When the storm arrived where I was, I was outside, recording it on my cell phone like I do with all significant storms. When the storm passed, the same guy came back and claimed he had hurt his arm and that he would have to suspend his projects for longer. If you thought I was overreacting, then what is HE doing?

Hey, I didn't mean to upset you, dude! When I said "it was all about your precious data", I meant I DO understand that you were a little ... yeah ... nervous. But the actual technical solution sounded pretty unspectacular. Okay, it may sound a little confusing. In fact I didn't mean to say "you're overreacting". It was more like winking - should I have added more smileys?
Was this your first experience of "windows-plus-virus-equals-testing-durability-of-human-mind" to such an extent? If yes, maybe after a few more crashes it won't bother you that much anymore ;) . Just a bit. I know it's hard to not letting the PC rule one's mental health, especialy when a lot of work is involved like in your case.
Like I said, I'm a big fan of your LPs, so I'm the last to wish you more troublesome moments like this :) (hope the last sentence makes sense grammaticaly - this essence is positive :D ).
Of course, if you're not entirely stupid and don't disable your firewall on install But even then it's a lot, lot, lot, lot more safe than Windows. As long as you don't do something stupid, you'll be fine there.

I'm just thankful I havn't had a virus yet, I've had my laptop for half a year, and I'm hopefully getting a good computer soon.

Now onwards to Napali! ... Ohmyohmyohmy *mumbles*
@Gizzy: One day you gotta tell me how you accomplish all that playing Unreal in UTxx thing. It really looks nice.

I'm doing some studies on computer virii, creation, and, of course, anti-virus techniques, and I'm planning to start working on my own anti-virus program. It'll first be, of course, for wind0z3, but later, I could make it for Linux too.
And yeah I agree with what you said. I never heard that someone got a virus in Linux, although it's proved that they exist. Limited root access ftw.

Ugh, that's YouTube for you. They're so scared of being sued that they'll remove anything that even thinks of violating copyright, or anything that THEY think violates copyright. Some guy who used to be on Youtube actually did film reviews under the name Nostalgia Critic. Guess what? He was banned. Another guy used the Colgate character Dr. Rabbit in a funny video and it was removed with the guy being suspended.
Now look at websites like DailyMotion. Someone actually uploaded an entire movie onto there with him and another guy doing narrative commentary on it and it wasn't removed. I've found full movies on there that were up for quite a long time. So why is it that a slightly obscure video site like Dailymotion has no problem with people uploading full movies, yet a site like Youtube cringes at even the slightest hint of what they think is a copyright violation. Heck, if I still had all of the original playthrough videos on my Hard drive, I would probably have started uploading them to another website right now after seeing this buttf*ckery that is YouTube.

Youtube deleted my account because I infringed copyright by uploading a coldplay video (Same as this: LAST YEAR. I've lost all my videos.
