Try Difficulty MaxInt, or actually I bet Difficulty 255 hard-freeze's Unreal because it extends ALL ScriptedPawn's sight range beyond reasonable values.
Impossible as theres a hardcoded value in AI sight checking for MAX distance (which I cant remember how far it was now).

Edit: just checked, for bots its 4000 UU and monsters 3464,1 UU.

It can be useful when making laser shooters in a space level with fast movers, maybe.

No seriously I dare you to specify a really high difficulty value, it WILL freeze Unreal entirely unless 227 obviously fixes that.

Ooh, another Let's Play form!
Wish Frankomatic would make a walkthrough of Unreal :D His comments are awesome.

I'm currently having trouble with making the videos. I swear, I started making the videos today and the godforsaken thing would not stop lagging. Whilst recording my voice on Windows Movie Maker, the video slows down so much that it actually takes on the properties of a slideshow. In fact, it's similar to when I set the world detail in the UT3 Demo to 3 on my GeForce 6200 (don't ask, it was an experiment. I'm surprised it didn't fry it, lol).

Plus, I noticed that when I record enough footage for three videos, the combined file size exceeds that of UT3, Patch 2.0 and the Titan Pack installed at once. That's beyond ludicrous, and I only have 12 GB left on the Harddrive for some reason.

Such is the price for quality, it seems. At least the filesize drops several gigabytes when I compress it via Movie Maker.

EDIT: I'm going to lower the Framerate of the recordings from 30 FPS to 15 to see if it stops the lagging and huge filesizes.

EDIT2: Setting the framerate to 25 FPS did the trick. 15 FPS was too jerky for the recording. But now the video isn't plagued by the random jerky lagginess and is currently being saved onto my HD. Which means you can expect to see parts up tonight. That is, unless I run out of time. But I doubt that'll happen.

Indeed, as in all other LP he has created :D I can imagine him saying this in Dark Arena:

"And this leads us to... A some kind of a dinosaur... thing that throws boulders at us for no obvious reason. As you might suspect, they are instant kill. Games like this love throwing enemies that oneshots us! OK, dodge that... Fire rockets... Woah! S**t! It hit me! I'm a failure! Ah well, at least the death sequence is hilarious."

I think I know why I have trouble coming up with jokes for the playthrough. I'm doing the voiceovers after the game footage was recorded.

I'm going to make RTNP part 5 an experimental video where I talk during the recording, except I can't record my voice and game sounds at the same time unless the Mic is next to the speakers, and since I'm using a headset, that shouldn't be too hard :D

I can imagine him saying this in Dark Arena:
Hm, 'Dark Arena' and the quote sound very much like Unreal... Do you mean this Frankomatic guy made an Unreal LP? I just checked out his channel on YouTube this afternoon for the 'Wolfenstein'-vid, which ... (sorry, unreadable characters, just can't decrypt them  :-[ ) mentioned. Beside many very old 2D stuff there was no Unreal around  :-? .

@Skaarjguy: I think you're doing a great, unique job. There's no reason to be worried about your fun-potential  ;) . There's just one thing, that makes me wonder: If you're doing the voiceovers after the footage was recorded, as you say, why is it that you often sound so hasty? In fact I took all the "where did that Skaarj come from?!" moments absolute for real  ;D .

No, he didn't. He does only 2D stuff not earlier than 1995, I guess, and mostly for consoles.

D'oh *imitateshomersimpson*, sorry, for some reason I confused your "I can imagine him saying..." with "I can remember..."  :)

A "Let's Play"er I liked alot is Arm4g3dd0nX (reads like ArmageddonX, I guess). He did a great HQ-UT3 LP!

I liked your unreal playthrough, despite a few jokes I found a little childish, most of it was cool :) I thought about doing the same for Unreal 2, but I'm afraid to talk english with my ridiculous accent and I had so much troubles with Youtube the last time i tried to upload something that I'm afraid to have to go through the process again :( moreover, no program has been able to record the sound from my computer 'till now (I know it's linked to Vista's new way to handle sound). I hope someone will do it anyway :) Maybe you :D

I have bad news guys. My computer has recently become horribly infected with JunkPoly and I won't be able to upload new videos because, well, it's spread to tons of system files... and Unreal. It's infected Unreal and the editor. Now even the desktop won't load and Task Manager won't open. This is bad.... really bad.

In the meantime, I'll keep you guys updated on the status of my computer via my Pocket Computer/Cell phone.

Whoops, false alarm. By some divine intervention, Task Manager opened and I was able to scan my computer through with Spybot and run RegistryBooster (which is a program that you have to buy for some reason... but I already registered it, so it's all good :D) to fix some registry damage the virus may have done. Now I'm off to purge the virus from the files that Avast moved to the "Chest" so that I may continue recording. Except... I uninstalled UnrealGold by accident, but the save files were left behind. Do you guys think that save files from 226 would work in 227?

Also, I extracted Unreal.exe from the Chest, but now it's not opening Unreal. I'm probably going to have to reapply patch 227.

Sorry, double post.

Guys, I'mma have to suspend the RTNP playthrough. Y'know that virus I was talking about? Well, it infected Unreal.exe. Avast! moved it to the "Chest", but if I try to move it back, it won't open because an error pops up. I accidentally uninstalled Unreal Gold and disk drive won't read the Unreal Anthology disk. I think it's broken, which means all 4 Unreal games that I dreamed of personally owning are now inaccessible. I mean, I can explore the disk contents just fine, it's just that setup.exe won't open for it. But it opens perfectly fine for the UT3 disk. I don't know what to do. I am uploading a video explaining the dilemma on YouTube.

By the way, when I read the Event Viewer, it says this whilst trying to install Unreal Anthology:
The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block
Which, according to several Google searches, says that either the Disk itself is bad, or the disk drive is bad. Seeing as how the UT3 disk works and the Anthology disk doesn't, even thought they're the exact same type of disk, I'll have to assume it's the Anthology disk itself. I need to find a way to fix it.

Sure. After I get my new computer bought and built. And after I transfer my important files from the old HDD to the new one. THEN I'll reformat.

By the way, I have repatched Unreal 227 so the the .exe file can return. Since now Unreal 227 is the only version of Unreal 1 on this computer, I have proceeded to do a new LP series, this time on the map pack Tower of Shrakith'a. Which means the RTNP LP will be on hold until further notice (read: until I can get the f*cking Unreal Anthology disk to work. Alternatively: until I'm able to ask my friend for the original Unreal Gold disk back)

So yeah, enjoy the pseudo-filler (took that word from Kabutroid, author of the comic Planet Zebeth.

Same for me, actually. I built my new PC today and I'll take it to my place next Sunday. The bad thing is I only can has two IDE devices attached, so I think I'll go for a SATA HDD.

Alright guys, I have good news and bad news. Bad news, my computer's been overrun with viruses, and it's gotten so bad that I was forced to reformat. I couldn't take Unreal with me either, and of course the Unreal Anthology disk won't install the games anymore.

So, are the LP's cancelled? Not at all. The good news is that I still have the original Unreal Gold disk that my bro gave to me long time ago. Unfortunately, I lent it to my friend so he can experience the glory of Unreal himself. I'll ask him for it next time I go to his house. Until then, I won't be able to make any more LP's. Sorry guys

EDIT: Y'know what, f*ck it, there is no good news. Only bad news. EMachines computers are the absolute WORST brand of computers in the wrold. Mine ABSOLUTELY REFUSES TO REFORMAT. I swear to you, it BLUESCREENS when I try to. I managed to successfully do it once with the HP/Compaq OS disk, but it wouldn't connect to the internet. I put in the eMash*t disk AND IT BSOD's!!! And the worst part is, if it BSoD's during the Recovery, THE OS WON'T BOOT, so I'll have to go through the entire reformat process AGAIN.

In short, I disconnected all wires and devices from the computer and tossed it into my bed. Which means you all will have to wait until I can get the parts for the computer, which probably won't be anytime soon.

It BSoDs when you reformat? Dude, if you're in w1nd0z3 setup, the windo_Ows is not even running. Or just buy an used HDD for $10 (temporary).
