It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

vista and servers

i had a server for some years but since i bought a new computer wich has vista on it, i can't seem to get it to work.
all master servers are correct and all ports are forwarded so i don't know what is wrong.
i always get the same error in my log.

anyone who knows how to fix this?

We got some reports yet from other people with similar problem, however the real cause or a fix is unknown yet. On some Vista machines it works correctly. There is a related topic in this forum here, but need to dig it up...

I run Vista, but my server is run on 227e using JcoopZ and DZmapmutator, and that seems to do the job for me.

I never used a 225 server with Nephthys on Vista but I might try and see if it works.

Well, as said already- this problem seems to be no "general" vista problem. On my testsystem it worked correctly too. There is maybe some setting (in Firewall? maybe or something else "security" related) in Vista which isn't set by default.
Since we don't know the real cause I see no way to fix it...

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I don't have my firewall up when I run my server and my AV is disabled. (Rather unsecure, I know) :(

well 227 gave the same problem and all firewalls are shut down.
ye i know the problem is there but i don't know why.
i can't seem to get connection with the master servers for some reason.
i don't have that problem on my xp computer so i think it has someting to do with vista

it must be something in vista for sure. But what?
I can't reproduce.
Maybe some specific software, some internet security kit...what do you have? Maybe we can find some similarities.

i found out how to do it finally!!!!
it has nothing to do with virus software or other shit.
it whas somekind of vista thingy that blocked some ports so u could not run servers and u could not see the entire server list.
if you guys want i can create a very small patch for that so other vista users with same problems can fix this?

hi everyone (whoever remembers me from years back)

just installed unreal on vista and got same problem when trying to host :(

i been gooling for couple of hours but can't find a fix.
but what i discovered is that there is same issue and fix for ut

to make it work some changes were done in ipserver.u file
i got no idea what but i hope someone with a clue can help :)

Pickledegg, any words on status?

There are gamers from Rune, Deus Ex, and UT99 searching for a good solution to this Vista problem too. It happens in all UE1 games and the binding problem probably effects other games in some ways.

You'd be doing a favor to many by detailing an alternative that does not involve modifying BindPort() calls in uscript packages. The steps to your solution would be a good start.

could someone with more clue then i have check out UT fix for identical problem that seem someone solved by changing something in IpServer.u file but i got no idea how to go about this.
