For those of you with AMD processors

This is a very annoying problem that I haven't been able to figure out for awhile. For some reason, the AMD Cool n Quiet feature that auto-adjusts the clock speed of the CPU depending on load causes Unreal (and only Unreal) to run really crappy. The game speed seems like its at 200% and will stutter horribly.
I always like to keep my Notebook (Alienware M9700) set with this feature as it keeps my CPU Temps about 30- 40 deg. F (20-25 deg. C) cooler.
Everytime I want to play Unreal though, I have to set my power settings to "Always on" which keeps my CPU fully clocked all the time.
Do any of you have this problem or know a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Masterman

I never install cool&quiet, it causes too many problems, that IS the solution as far as I know, but I dont know if you could make a shortcut or automatically turn it all the way up when it's on

Yeap, C&Q always causes issues, so I keep it off. You can achieve the same effect and speed up your computer by simply making a clean boot.

That was probably my issue too. On old windows, I had to run WoT with 'Disable CPU extensions' safe mode option. But on this installation of windows, it runs ok. Probably was that thing installed but I know that I didn't install such thing this time.
Oh and btw, if you're using OpenAL or FMod, switch to Galaxy. Problem solved.

Yeah, the AMD Cool & Quiet function has had problems with Unreal since for a long time. I had to disable it altogether.

only wondering why my system(s) doesn't behave that badly with it.

Well, I have the problem of 1. complete speeding up the WHOLE PC, and not constantly, but like I turn off VSync (i.e. when I look at the floor and walk it goes like OMGOMGOMGIMHIGH and when I look far, it's like almost normal) and 2. (on FMod) there is some weird flanger effect on all sounds and music, speeding up it there too (oh well) and I FEEL it's on the edge of crashing into tiny bits (yes, there's a double meaning and yes, I'm just being poetic here

), but on FMod, instead of just speeding up, it can slow down pretty badly too sometimes. I rly hope that'll be solved in 227f cuz I'd like to see 1. EAX 2. sounds-are-quiet-behind-walls thing.

Do any of you know how to program a macro to toggle the Cool n Quiet on and off? It's gets annoying having to right click desktop -> Screen Saver->Power
There must be a batch file I can create to do this.
Any suggestions?

Go to Control Panel. Then find Power Options.

Right-click it; Create Shortcut. Then click Yes.
You now have a desktop shortcut which leads to:

I use that shortcut every day.
OPTIONAL: Go to RMB->Properties->Shortcut Key->Set something, altho I don't recommend this cuz I open the editor thousands of times accidentally that way (Ctrl+Alt+E).

Lol, what names

We need a UT3 language pack for XP, where all "Yes" would be changed to "EFF YEAH!" and all "No" to "Aww smack!"

Lol, I can try to guess but I'm pretty sure I'd fail.
