In need of someone to fix a .IT file... Urgent.

I don't know or seemingly care at the moment IF this the right place to post, but I really need some help right now.

Okay so I took a .SPC file, ROBOTS.SPC, the song that plays in The Cave of the Past in Earthbound \ Mother 2 when you use the Phase Distorter III, it dumped fine, I fine tuned the sample in ModPlugTracker (NOT OpenMPT), properly added a loop point, and saved, the file obviously plays fine in Winamp, and both ModPlug Player and ModPlug Tracker, and I even tested it on the ORIGINAL, Impulse Tracker v2.14 for MS-DOS, it played JUST FINE...

But the moment I import it into UnrealED, Unreal HARD FREEZES my ENTIRE dammed system, I can't do ANYTHING, and then the PC Speaker hangs on a crackling tone, and I'm forced to press the soft reset button, which screws up my system even MORE, EACH TIME, I HAVE TO DO THAT.... I restarted this worthless POS twice in one run.... I keep thinking my CPU or RAM just suffered irreversible damage from this BS.

What in the god dammed HELL was EPIC DOING when they made the default module player for Galaxy.DLL!?!?!?!? Infact, THIS can be exploited to hard freeze other people's systems if they have
"UseDigitalMusic" set to true, and they play a module saved "improperly"....

If anyone has ANY idea on how to fix this POS, save it in a older .IT format that CAN BE READ by Unreal, AND GALAXY.DLL without FREEZING my ENTIRE OS, CPU, EVERYTHING.... Please, tell me right now, or give me a link to a OLDER version of MPT or a older version of ImpulseTracker for MS-DOS...

If anyone of you want the .IT file in question, PM me your email or MSN address, I'll send it to you ASAP. And you've been warned.

I have not tested this in FMOD or OpenAL, but I doubt very many people go to my server using those audio devices, I also doubt they'd play it correctly, they might just GPF instantly...

I can recall what the version is, but the archive file's year 2000.

From the DOG clan website(http://newbiesplayground.com/).

http://69.90.34.150/unreal/utilities/mptracker.zip

Ive used it and it works for me.

Just curious, when you converted it did you save it as 4400mhz 8mb mono before converting with modplug?
I used to import alot of music to unreal using:
Goldwave-converting to .wav
Modplug-to .it
Then import save as .umx

No, I got it figured out, I had to tell OpenSPC to dump to .IT using 128 columns\row, and update rate 100, which dumped out as Speed 1 BPM 250, and that surprisingly didn't hard freeze my PC..

So apparently 255 columns\row Speed 1 and 255 BPM hardfreeze's the entire PC... What a load of BS...

Please tell me that's impossible.

No, on the contrary it's QUITE possible, and you're welcome to try it for yourself.

Just make a blank .IT file (or not blank, put a bunch of random notes and instruments to spice things up) in ModPlug Tracker and set the Speed to 1, Tempo to 255, and on the patterns, set each of them to have 255 columns, save it, try to import it into UnrealED, and attempt to play it.. If you're unlucky it'll hardfreeze your CPU...

EDIT: If you're interested, here's OpenSPC, you need either a full bred MS-DOS machine, running MS-DOS 7.1 or whatever the hell, or emulate the program in DosBOX, either way it works for me. Also you can try to use the Linux version if you have Linux.

So it's very possible to make a "CPU-freezing map" for Unreal.

Yeah, like me and guys from SGU project did at the server. I spawned so much TarydiumBarrels and kaboom'd them so I created a BSP hole, got thrown to Entry, messed all textures, restarted Unreal, textures were all still messed and then my CPU froze. Yay! :D
