It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Post by SilencerCW »

bringit a long time ago gave me a command line that i can join my erver as admin and switch it over to uteamfix in game and i lost that command line =/.
i saw the command line u gave in your manual but i tried it and it won't work i dun think uu ment it to be used that way neway :O but can u tell me the command i need to use to switch it from regular unreal to uteamfix unreal dedicated server. im useding uteamfix9f because its simple and i liked that 1 :P and do i need any security with that from hackers? or is a password ok and no worried cuz i got a pass on it.
and i can't remember the way to enter a server with a password lol
i thought it was (I.P.)?password=(password) but it didn't work :O
if u need any other info or anything let me know and i looked on the fourms for a topic like this but didn't see 1 anywhere lol

What command line are you using?
Are you using that command line on a already running server, on a running regular copy of unreal (i.e. what you'd use to join another server), or are you using it to start unreal?
What happens when it "doesn't work"? Does the server crash? Does it start a regular deathmatch server?
Try posting the log file for your server.

Depends what kind of password and hackers you're talking about. There are two passwords; a game password and an admin password. If you have a game password then only people who have the password can join, so you won't need to worry about cheaters (probably). The admin password is there for you and anyone you REALLY trust to let you control the server. I'm not going to go into specifics, but with the admin password you can do a lot on a server.
If you're talking about people crashing your server, then you should either get 227 or Nephthys if you're using unreal 225 (Nephthys doesn't work on 227, and shouldn't be needed anyways). Those should stop people from being able to crash your server.
If you mean people cheating in your server, then you need to find a cheat detector. 227 has one built in. UProtect is what I see used most often on other servers. I don't know if UTeamFix has a built in one. If you were talking about a game password, then you shouldn't need to worry about cheaters; just don't give out the password to people you don't trust.

Also, that is how you join with a password. If doing that brings you into the server but without being admin, then the password is wrong. If doing that doesn't bring you into the server, you most likely have the IP wrong. Also, if you are trying to join a server hosted on your own computer, do NOT try to join with the external IP address (the one you give out to other people; visible from www.whatismyipaddress.com). Instead use "127.0.0.1" to connect to your own computer. If the server is hosted on another computer on the same network you'll have a similar problem, but the IP address to use isn't always the same so I'm not going to explain how to get it.

Better yet is to use your network address to connect to your computer because reconnect while connected to 127.0.0.1 aka callback IP address often GPF's Unreal. (At least, that's my case.)

It only does that because the server responds too fast and it reloads nearly instantly

Ouch.

Anywayy, I personally use my PC name (DarkServer).

So it looks like this:

open darkserver.[?password=]

Yes, yes, dot at the end, because else the PC thinks it's a map name. xD

I need a DNS name ASAP...

Trying to answer all questions:

AntiCheat:
UTeamFix has -NO- built in protection. It has a few mild exploit fixes so that, for example, people cannot skip maps and a few other things. 9F is a tad old though and I'm fairly certain a couple of the newer exploit fixes are missing there.
UProtect will work but kick 227 clients.

Changing game modes in game:
The startup lines in the manual
Unreal.exe [startmap].unr?game=[GameClass] -server
are of course for a fresh server start, not a running one. You can, however, use the normal map switching command to not only switch maps, but also to change game classes etc.

Normally to switch a map you type (on the server console):
servertravel mapname
(in game you type admin servertravel mapname or switchlevel mapname without the admin prefex).

You can use both servertravel and switchlevel also like this:

(admin) servertravel dmariza?game=UTeamFix.DeathMatchGameFix

switchlevel dmariza?game=UTeamFix.DeathMatchGameFix

This will change both the map and the game type of the running server. The only drawback is, that if you make a typo in the game class, your server will crash. So make sure you get the names right.

Opening with passwords:
That has already been explained by the others :-)
