Best Coop Maps
Over the years I have played a lot of coop maps, and there are a lot of custom maps out there that rank high in my opinion.
But the best maps I have played and enjoyed, are the "1998 Unreal Beta Maps" that DOTS fixed and released. He did a superb job on those maps, and some are really big. There are several maps in that series I cannot believe Epic didn't release with the game.
If you haven't tried these yet, jump over to hypernl site and d/l them.
yea I know they have been out for quite some time now, and I had played several of them on other servers. But I just recently downloaded the complete set and I am having a great time playing them. Thank You Dots It's like playing Unreal for the first time all over again. And playing these maps in Open gl with high res textures is GREAT!
Whats your favorite Map series?

Re: Best Coop Maps
My favorite series would have to be The Illhaven Saga. I don't know if it has the playerstarts for a co-op type game, but I do like its design. Especially climbing the vine to the window and doing the 'rooftop' dance above the poisonous mist. It's one of the better series done for Unreal 1. Maybe not the best, but purdy darn good.

Re: Best Coop Maps
Is there any maps where two or more players have to work through puzzles, like two people stand on two separate buttons to open a door for a set amount of time? or one player has to press buttons in the right sequence or his friend trapped in a small room will fall into lava?
That would be pretty cool in my opinion.

Re: Best Coop Maps
That was discussed in the UT2004 Epic forum, and no, it's not even possible without mods. To count players standing somewhere you need to make special actors that would do only this, and usual counters and triggers won't work. Unless there's a switch with TriggerControl, one person touches it, doors open, allows others to enter, then those who entered presses another switch that open the same doors and you go through.

Hmm, I like puzzles too. And labyrinths. Do you know a map with a huge labyrinth?

Darksider, Drew's Skaarj Castle is for you. The map has a HUGE underground labyrinth that you have to find stuff in to unlock the way to the castle.

Lol always take your lucky side and don't go to the other side of the labyrinth.
Or take some rope with you.

Unless if you use Nali seeds and plant them to remember where you've been and haven't been.

Uh. A minotaur would be painful to cross in Unreal. Especially in a labyrinth

The hardest way: Pupae from the ceiling + low ammo; no DP.
"Please type KILLALL DISPERSIONPISTOL in the console after entering the map to make the game harder. Thank you."

Just like Dr. Meyer said in Unreal II:
If you didn't miss that much, maybe you had more ammo!

That's why you aim first then shoot. And it also depends on what enemy you fight.
