DirectX
Remember the old days when windows update included updates for
DirectX? Those days are long gone and have been for quite some time now.
Nearly all game developers include the updated version for directx as part of their
game installation these days.
But you can always get the latest version of directx from microsoft download center.
There are usually 3 versions.
!. Directx End user runtime... which the majotity of us as clients would use.
2. DirectX redist which developers include with their game installations
3. DirectX SDK which contains the DirectX Runtime and all DirectX
software required to create DirectX compliant applications.
You can always get the current version of DirectX from this link,

Re: DirectX
An updated DirectX is always a good thing to have. Especially when running things like 3DMark. Thanks for the notice :-)

Re: DirectX
It doesn't matter if you click on the download link and your not sure if you have the latest version,
the installer will inspect your files and update any files that is needed.
Or if you have the latest, the installer will abort and tell you that you have the latest version.

Re: DirectX
DirectX 9.x is the lastest for Windows NT 5.x. But be sure to check if you have the latest DirectX 9.0c, since it has been updated several times. DirectX 10 is only available for Windows NT 6.My dxdiag says I have DirextX 9.0c. I guess there are no newer DirectXs out there for WinNT 5.2?

UT3 is a DirectX 9 application
How else could you use TexMod for DX9 to extract textures from it
?

Re: DirectX
Ikuto, you mean D3DX10_36.dll? That's not DirectX 10. Right-cick, properties, version - 9.24.949.2307. DirectX9.

Re: DirectX
I think that Direct3D isn't the same as DirectX.
But yes, there is DirectX 10 Alpha for XP:
http://www.techmixer.com/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp/
Yet I'm not going to try it as it's not stable...
And everyone knew XP was getting DX10, all along from it's release.
EDIT: Interestingly, there's a newer, RC2 version here:
http://www.technospot.net/blogs/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp-from-alky-project/
But it might simply not work, might work or might wreck havoc on your PC

Re: DirectX
How do I know if it supports it?
Hmm, if it's true, that might be why it failed for some users.
