It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

So, while randomly browsing and updating my current website, I started to feel a little nostalgic and visited my old website (and by old, I mean REALLY frickin' ancient.), which is [url]http://www.freewebs.com/killerndoom[/url]. What I found has brought me intense memories and flashbacks. I'd like to share some with you.

I used to be a part of a clan called [BDS]. It's an OLD clan which was started four years ago by a good friend named Marcos who lived in Spain (as far as I knew O.o). I also used to be the co-leader of a modding team called Team M.O.D (honestly, I haven't the faintest idea what M.O.D stood for). The leader was a guy by the name of sWAGMAn (no, that's not a typo :P), and together, he and I developed something called CrazyCoop 2, a "better" version of his older mod, CrazyCoop 1. Actually, it wasn't better at all. I hate to admit it, but after it was done, I felt like we shouldn't have released it >.< It had basic model shapes and didn't have any new scripts, just the original Unreal guns with different, crappy models (some which I made myself, heh) and different projectiles. I saw the light and removed it from my site. With the failure of that, we decided to start development on CrazyCoop 3 when my computer was reformated, thus, all of the progress we made (or lack thereof) was lost. After that, we started work on another mod, MODCoop, which was canceled for reasons unknown to me at this point. I had also simultaneously joined and became Co-leader of a team called DarkTeam, run by Marcos as well. As memory serves, DarkTeam never really created anything.

Anyone remember ElementMaster? (AKA Sesshoumaru AKA Cait Sith) He was a good friend, and I vaguely remember he and Pcube were sworn rivals. His older maps, while not that good by today's standards, were my most favorite maps at that time. He, like many other friends on Unreal, mysteriously disappeared without a trace, however, we did meet again for the last time in 06 or 07 (can't really remember). He joined a server I was on and barely recognized him until I noticed his name (which was something else at the time, can't really remember that either). Then, he popped up in another server I was in and requested that I host one of his newer maps on my server (which I finally managed to get up when eventually a mysterious error sent my server to hell and eventually the LAN heap again), and that was the last I saw of him.

I remember Exiled. He was a cool guy. Even though I can barely remember certain details, I know that he made lots of mods (his most famous being the obviously named Exiled series of mods and the little stories that went with each one of them, heh) and maps. He sometimes went around as a troll with the alias Unpunished. Eventually, he permanently changed his name to Unpunished before also disappearing without a trace. One of his more memorable map packs for me was his Blue Mountain pack. He's also the one who created the Dammo6, a purple Dammo that never really had a real purpose other than to show what the projectile woulda looked like if the Dispersion Pistol could go up one more level. Another map of his that I remember is his Christmas map, utilizing the Moo Moo Land Christmas mod for the snow and decorations and stuff.

Now, I'd really like to know something. How many people here started playing Unreal 2004 and earlier that are still around? I remember playing on Zombie's Deadzone for the first time about 5 years ago. Good times...

If you guys want, you can post your memories and stuff of Unreal. All you have to do is hop on the UMS Flashback and activate its Time-Space warp to get started! (that was the corniest thing I've ever said, period :D)

Yea, I started playing recently too. Date Joined: 21.05.2007. Must of started playing a few months earlier than I joined here, as I remember what a great find was this site :)
Yet the only nice thing I can see in Unreal is co-op... That's why I prefer UT2004 :)

i've been playing since the game got released, but only started actively participating in the online community around 1999/2000

back then i looked up to the mapping gods when quality map releases were daily.

but i got fustrated that my unrealed never ever worked, on about every pc setup it simply crashed during startup and no-one bothered to help me, it wasn't until years later someone was kind enough to actually point me out to uedfix4.

Not correct... It has loads of nice functions that are not in UEd2, like auto calculation (128+64 in the brush builder parameters automatically outputs 192) and fixed position actor browser. It is still the most user-friendly, though not as functional as later, UnrealEd.

Yeap, like I've said, it's UEd1 only function... Also, the image that is displayed when you right-click on a brush builder is very useful too.
Maybe we could add these to UEd 2 suggestions? :)

Idk what image... GreatEmerald mentioned it... I think that there was an image of a small cube when you right-clicked on Cube Builder, etc.

Ohhh, so THAT'S why I thought the UEd2 brush builder settings looked weird. And man, Auto Calculation would've helped me infinitely if someone had just told me about it before.

Some years ago, I found mods for UT on gameland(game magazine) CDs. But I didn't own UT :( Once I bought UT CD. I've played it very long time. It's really great game. But it was pirated version with old UEd and didn't work in linux. I threw it from the window :D And I downloaded playable version. And I wanted to play Tactical Ops, and my friend gave me CD with it. And once, I downloaded mutator with monsters. Monsters were very interesting. And I knew it was monsters from Unreal. And I decided that I must play Unreal. But I didn't own it too :( And one good man gave me UnrealGold! When I found oldunreal community and 227 patch. And now I'm happy and I own Unreal Anthology!
