Trying to run a server for me doesn't look like its going to happen....since this peice of sh*t Linux wants to be a b*tch...its just not worth it....defintly not worth $100 bucks outa my wallet...

Hi Shivaxi,For as long as Unreal has been played online,there has always been arses.
Back in the early days there was absolutely Feck all that could be done about them aswell.
I dont know how long you have been an Unreal gamer,but today the weapons available to server admins are far far better than years ago.
For what must be about 8 years now Unreal has been "finished" with similar comments as your own being a common conception, but the old girl is still here today and as long as the master server is there she will still be here for many tomorows.
I can categorically state that i will never (as long as the master server stays) remove the Jolt servers,and im sure theres a few other server admins with exactly the same thoughts.

Yes there is, being one of the peeps who locks thread here at OldUnreal. But I was impressed by what UK said, representing Jolt. As alot of the old school Unrealers know, Jolt has been supporting the Unreal community for quite awhile. And it's the efforts of Jolt, TNN and others (etc) that help keep this game alive.

And as for Unreal being dead, I really don't think it is. There may be only a few peeps playing Coop, but the amount of younger talent working on new meshes, scripts, mods and levels (etc) is quite nice to see. They keep on making this game better even though there won't be 1000s of peeps seeing their work.

In my opinion, that shows just how well designed the original Unreal actually is. If the OldUnreal community can contribute to the newer talent in the gaming world, for 10+ years now, that says alot. Not only that. It's amazing that a big bucks gaming company like Epic can have such trust and faith as to give its source code out, that says more than I ever could.

Over the last 7-8 years I've watched peeps and clans come and go, and still there's the OldUnreal community. So in reality, it's not a matter that Unreal is dead. The game we love will continue as long as OldUnreal continues. And OldUnreal continues to grow.

That's why there's such an emotional response to these type of threads. Because peeps really care about this game. If they didn't, nobody would give two cents worth if Unreal did vanish. I've been involved in gaming communities long before I joined OldUnreal, and it's only OldUnreal that's still going strong. In fact, it's one of the gaming communities that have lastest longer than most others, and that's something to be proud of.

OMG that man should be shot for blasphemey!!! Seriously even when the master server was down, people were playing. Especially the INF servers they even filled up a cuople times w/ no master server. U1 will never die ever, 10 years may as well be 100 if you ask me. You know I see over a dozen kids that play after their parents.. unreal is a good clean fun game u can pass down to your kids!!!

On the INF end U1 is more populated than 2.9 inf in UT. I have played lots of games and u know how many players from all those other games I actually talk to on messenger or send unreal cd's or whatever? A big zero. I have hundreds of current and former INF and u1 players on my buddy lists actually. I would like ya'll to check out this thread over at INFs official site, its pretty much just UT players but I do post there from time to time just to push the original and invite ppl back lol.
