UdpServerUplink: Could not find a UdpServerQuery object, aborting.
in my log. Any help please?

pretty much sounds like something got messed when you added the lines, check if there are still all required lines in there, compare against default.ini maybe

add this

before the serverActors={master servers}

Thanks Casey, that fixed that issue. But, my server still doesn't show up in the server lists. I think thats probably because of my router..all my ports were closed this morning.:/..o well..ill try to get on that

I added the master servers as indicated to my unreal.ini, and ubrowser just stays stuck in "query master server" and nothing shows up.
BTW are you supposed to comment out the server address in ubrowser for the gamespy master server (master0.gamespy.com) in order for these backup servers to work?
edited to add: n/m got it working using Hyper's Enhanced Browser.

not needed, no- although these servers are not working at the moment it will only delay the time it needs until the other servers are queried. But if not showing up at all, try to comment them out with a ";" in front. Then you'll see without damaging something

I might add this: WhiteWolf and Bio-Hazard are having troubles with putting the server up, even for the alternate master servers, I don't know how to help them, I have helped them to set the ini the right way, but still the servers won't show up in the browser.
WhiteWolf already gave up and said goodbye to Unreal thanks to this.
Really, thanks gamespy for this all trouble............

all of the clients need to have the master servers added too in [ubrowserall], that sounds like the problem

Edit your unreal.ini
under the
[Engine.GameEngine] section
add the following:
if running Nephthys (for a server most likely)
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.hypercoop.tk MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=Nephthys.NptServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.hlkclan.net MasterServerPort=27900
if not then add the following:
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=hyper.dnsalias.net MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.hlkclan.net MasterServerPort=27900
and under the
[UBrowserAll] section
ListFactories[0]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=unreal
;ListFactories[1]=UBrowser.UBrowserHTTPFact,MasterServerAddress=master.telefragged.com,MasterServerTCPPort=80,MasterServerURI=/servers.txt
ListFactories[1]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=master.hlkclan.net,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,GameName=unreal

Man, I knew that Unreal 1 wasn't getting as much attention as it should, but when people like GameSpy also decide to forget about Unreal, that just screws everyone over and gives the game less opportunity to get more recognition.
I swear to god, I will key the phrase 'Unreal 1' into Google, and get only 1 or 2 related results and the rest would be UT3.
The only reason Unreal 1 should get this pitiful amount of recognition is if Epic makes a game that feels exactly like, plays exactly like, is exactly as moddable, and is actually related to, Unreal 1. Alas, that's not gonna happen apparently. Maybe the pitiful sales of UT3 will cause them to open their eyes and see what they're doing wrong. I mean, the Unreal Tournament series was okay up until 2k4, and with UT3, it's obvious that they're pushing it.
Even GameSpy is in this same mindset as Epic. Pretty soon, all support for Unreal 1 will be totally gone and Unreal 1 will fall into waste, while Epic still totes around their Unreal Tournaments.
And here we are, still loyal to Unreal 1, still refusing to purchase UT3, and still trying to keep the game alive. If Epic were to find out the lengths we go to to keep this 10 year old game alive, maybe they'll come to their senses and realize what true Unreal players really want, and that's a true spiritual sequel to Unreal 1!!
If they combined the gameplay elements of Unreal 1 with the Multiplayer elements of the UT series, I swear to you, they will have a game that will knock... nay, vaporize the socks off of any FPS fan.
Er, sorry for this little rant. I just had to get that off my chest.

Yeah, we all fell the same i guess. The problem is 1) it's not going to happen 2) if it ever happened, not everyone would be satisfied with the resulting game.
And UT2004 was fine. Maybee the best unreal for multiplayer (gameplay speeking), thanks to it's quakish style (quake multiplayer being, imho, the absolute essence of deathmatch gaming).
Unreal is dying. In the end, Epic's and Gamespy's move toward total deletion of anything U1-related is only logical : they could not PAY money for a 10 years old game with a few 100th strong community. Sad thing, but once more, free market has failed us (join the communists, Lenin said : free U1 masterservers).
What can we do know ? Just what we are currently doing : patching the game, spreading the word, like Smirftsch, get a working masterserver like hyper.nl, and spreading the word etc...
Let's face it, we are dinosaurs, and we shall finally move away from unreal. Some of us will stay until Unreal is officially dead, but let's face reality (wich far less cool than unreality), we've been prolonging Unreal's life far beyond expectations, but old players are moving, new players are few... The end is coming, repent for you sins, you poor men. I think nothing can be done to re-inject a great life in Unreal. But i think it can be kept as it is now, maybee gain some new players and enmpower it's community a little, but with the end of master servers... It's gonna ba harder.
As for the Unreal name, it's been betrayed by the piece of crap entitled UT3, and if Epic keeps pissing on it's better game, it will dinally become a shameful game. I'm deeply sad about that, Unreal, Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2004 are some of the best games history has produced, and it can be compared to the impact and the reputation of games like Quake and DOOM.
But just like Quake and Doom, Unreal is dying. Players are waiting for a new type of game arena deathmatch cannot fake to be. Looks like Fast-FPS's are a dying genre, mainly because of the will to make accessible games for anybody, Fast FPSs requiring long and painful learning, adaptation, tactics... Everything that makes it so tasty, and create such a great feeling each time you kill an unknown on a lost server on the other side of the planet. Not many people can still feel this, so we'll get more and more complex gametypes without anything as organic and playfull as Fast-FPS's deathmatch.
Yeah, i had to get it out too. Long live Quake, Doom, Unreal, and all these games that didn't suck.

Well to be sure. I just reinstalled UT3. Seems Unreal 1 has more players then epics latest. There was not one single player playing deathmatch in UT 3. In team dm there were only two servers that had players. I think that would make anyone reconsider. Unreal 1 may be old but it has certainly outdone UT3.

Man, what a shame... if the default master does go down permanently, then that's pretty much kissing goodbye to 99% of all new players period. I've met some pretty interesting folk on Unreal in just the last year, people who were really intrigued by the beauty and simplicity of this game... Thanks a whole F@#% lot Gamespy, I'm sure the extra 200 kb bandwidth will really save you the $.
Oh, and I tried getting in touch with Gamespy about this issue, and I keep getting redirected to a bot that says "contact the manufacturer!" This was in their "live chat"... why am I not surprised.

They are not new, for few last years they weren't up that often, but they're not new.
They always showed up when it was under gamespy.
In ubrowserall, everything's added. Everything's set just right.
And as for UT3, I like the game much better than the cartoonish ut2k4, which I count as definitely
worst in gameplay wise and most noob like of the series and I have to disagree with most of opinions here. I used to like ut2004 demo somehow and had fun online (not at deathmatch, that's the most crappy thing ever about that game), but I didn't play back then properly UT and I was younger. I guess the appeal of ut2k4 is more for these teenagers, which seems to love it, but now when I'm older I clearly see how crappy the game was.
However, I don't have a machine that would run ut3 properly for now, but even without that it's fun.

@7of9, is the windows firewall or any other firewall on? if the server is definetly on, before the master list pings everything, check if your IP is on the "All" tab, if its there, that means ping is being blocked. the same problem happened to me
The settings look fine.

Debatable of course, matter of opinion. I personnaly think that UT2004 was graphicaly enjoyable because it was not some greyish over-realistical generic game, but had a strong visual identity. As for Gameplay, If you played Quakeworld/Quake3, you will see where is uT2004's strenght. It's a crossover of Quake and UT, and it makes it worth playing imo.
Not noob friendly, but not repulsive either.
If you try playing Quake3 or warsow today, you'll get assraped by half-human players, because they've been playing for years these complex games full of trick jumps and special movements you just don't know, and you'll never see the bullet that kills you. Same for games like Tribes. Ut2004's learning curve is not so steep, but it's not as friendly as UT99 was, because of the difficulty, not to use, but to master the movements efficiently.
Anyway, opinion and people-related things. We can't just talk about it with perfect objectivity.

@ off-topic: As for UT3, I think the graphics are nice but rather too heavy since like 95 % of people who own a PC can't play that. As for DeathMatch, its pretty stupid endless impact hammering around like most newbies do there, so yeah I prefer UT2k4 over UT3.

Someone needs to compile a list of all the backup w/ detailed instructions. One for clientside and one for serverside, between everyone here on this forum we can contact every server admin currently having a server in the U1 world. I think we have like 4 different sets of directions to patch unreal.ini in this thread.
Regarding few new players that stick.. I would really hate to be a new player in the INF world. INF DM is pretty dead atm, the most I have seen in any server in last 4 months was 6 in the pain shack, but hey is not all bad. The Standoff community will go on and on I"m convinced... dedicated bunch. But back to the point, the new players I see get their heads poped lookin around and after a few times give up and go back to wherever they came from lol, by now the players playin are pretty damn good. I'd like to invite some UT3 gamers into our turf bet we fare better in their world than they do in ours
EDIT: Ok I seeing the stuf on info page in unreal and on the homepage here.
BUT what do older clients do? I'm not piecing the older inis together correctly somehow.
And I went over to gamespy to complain and right there in front of me is this...
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION
GameSpy Master Server issues have been reported and our engineers are working on this issue. It is not necessary to report this problem. The game makers are working with our engineers to resolve this as quickly as possible. Thank you!
They need to fire thoes "engineers"
