Is there a working unreal 1 to 2 or 4 converter

I have looked at converting some and found that you have to do a few things

Remove all the armor actor
remove the non-solid boxes
remove the movers

it seems to invert one of the axis like x or y and shift the position a few huntred points on the solids and semisolids

the actors seem to get moved a little differnt

I dont know enought to make a program and hoped someone had.

Just to clarify about the shifting of brush positions/scalings, I think it's because postscale isn't being properly imported. (one of the scaling parameters) The way to "fix" this is to select all brushes in the map, and then select Transform Permanently which resets postscale and copies scaling settings to the brush's internal vars.

Of course, this ALSO changes all the texture alignments on brushes, but at least the brushes will be accurate BSP-wise. ::)

That's interesting. I thought they simply removed the functionality there... If you get a program like that work, it would be sweet!

There is a program for converting Unreal 1, UT and UT200x maps to UT3. You'll need JAVA to make jar files to use it. There's not much documentation available (search at FileFront's UT3 site for it I think) and there's a few quirks using it for converting Unreal 1 maps, but it has been done. One of the peeps for Mars2k3 (a UT3 clan based in Australia) has got it to work a couple times. I have a copy of the latest version of it on my private FTP, one that I know has worked.

I did get some maps to sort of convert when i was trying this out. I ended up with a Sunspire map with lots of holes in it. But it showed me it could be done.

it was like the x or y needed to be added to some N varable for solid nonsolid adds ands subtracts.
most of the lights and others things needed to be ajusted simular. but they needed to be shifted the x and y also mabit z also

you also need to do some substutition for things like weapons armor and pickups and try to apply as much of the data across as can be.

I had set this up and did it with just a word processor and some macros but never did quite get the numbers right.

mabie someone with a quick mine could figure it out. I may have some basic code i started to write to try to convert it.

I think i gave up because of something about the rotation on the axis math mentioned in a message above. that may be the key to solving this.

It's UT3, but what about U2 and UT2004?
