Ideas? Post here!!

I have had a few ideas that could revolutionize unreal! I use revolutionize cause it sounds big :P. Anyways, My ideas include an addon to unreal for voice, like Half-Life. We all know that when unreal was released, the main competitors of unreal was Quake and Half-Life.
I was only thinking of implementing a voice command so that all you (the user) must do is set a key to voice, then hold it and talk! It would be way more simple for using a microphone, rather than getting painful artheritis or Tendinitis  by constantly typing in what you want to say.

If you have any ideads for unreal, Post here!! Maybe then, the scripters (which I am currently learning.. the UScript) can make it happen! If it is possible.. that is. And if they want to, which I hope they will.

I'm not sure I understand what you want to achieve. Talk between players ?
We do that with Ventrilo or Teamspeak already, that's what they're for.

It is not just about the voice capabilities with a third party program. It would be better to have one 'built-in' rather than download a third-party program. I am also talking about IDEAS, not just one in specific. If anyone has any ideas for anything, then they can post here. I just posted one of my ideas, thats all. This thread is about ideas in all, not focused on one single topic.

I have played CS:S and there have been very few times where people would abuse the mic.

But how many times can I stress that this is a place for more than just the idea that I have put forth. Put YOUR ideas here, do not just focus on mine.

What Unreal needs the most these days is people to turn them into reality.

Hmmm a mutator that allows you to keep items after death :D. Um a hud like Quake that recognizes ur skin and puts ur face where the quake guy's face went.(you need to have played quake to understand)

just new maps and single player missions which are using the new features of 227, footstep sounds, footprints, weather like snow and rain, particle emitter...
Maybe some new plants (probably will get some soon).

THATS a GREAT idea! Same with smirftsch's.
JazzAd, we have enough people who can turn them into reality. I, myself, will try my damndest to turn something into reality. Maybe we can incorporate some of these ideas into 227, with smirftsch's permission of course :P

Maybe AI support to Dots vehicles (I know there's bot support, but I didn't see "skaarj" support or "merc" support).

I believe that we tried something similar to that very idea and it was dubbed Joint Map Project, but no one would submit A section of map but I am willing to give it another go. I have something like that posted too, called Creation and Completion, but on any note, if you can create a section of map, that would be wonderful. I will send you my section if you wish. all I need is you msn, or email :P

You don't create a "section" of a map. Each mapper has their own map based on a certain theme, style, and story to match the project. This is the best way to do this and is the way about 99% of the guys at UnrealSP.org do this. It has worked for years ;)

There are also Coop gametypes that keep inv after death. Jcoopz and i think Xcoop as well.

How UTF "remember" inventory? It save them in ini, changes inventory bnodelete true, replaces playerpawn, disables function died, changes some function in gametype or something else?

The function GameInfo.DiscardInventory() is overriden and calls a function in PlayerPawn / Bots subclasses that puts all inventory selectively into a secondary inventory chain.

AddDefaultInventory() always checks if there is inventory in the persistent chain and restores it if that's the case.

This way, you also get your inventory back if you switch from player to spec and back without logging out and back in.

Don't forget me :D As soon as i get over being sick and learn how to properly use vertex edit i'll be good to go.

Also, my idea would be a way to see how close a client connecting to your server is to finishing a download, so a way to see what % they are at. Also perhaps a message saying if they canecelled their download ( both of these could be server-optional ) I personally like knowing how close the person I told to come to my server is to actually getting in. :o
