It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Unreal 1 mapvoting handler

This is a mutator which should more or less work with all gametypes to add mapvoting/gametype voting for the server.
You can configure up to 10 different gametypes to vote for and 500 maps. For players to bring up the menu in mid-game just type 'ShowVotingMenu', a reminder message of that appears once for every new player who connect to the server. It comes now with a package called "VotingHandlerWeb.u" which lets you configure the mutator remotely through your standard internet explorer, but this requires that you have 'UWebAdmin' on your server aswell and it does ONLY work with Unreal 227.

It includes instructions how to install it to the server. I added an option for starting end-game voting once Level.Game.bGameEnded goes to true, but I'm not so sure how many gametypes works with that. Then it can also be triggered to endgame through event 'BeginVoting'. Once end-game voting starts it stops game from timer and tick to avoid possible timed mapchange.

Current problems/bugs I noticed so far:
- 226f, 225f and 224 players lose their UBrowser serverbrowser if they havent opened it at least once before the voting menu.
- Voting menu wont work for players who play with Engine.Console (but who would do that?).

Great idea ... I like the option to vote the "game type" along with the maps. Work out the bugs with UnrealGold (as alot of peeps use UnrealGold, which is more available in the stores and the version published with the Anthology).

Once the bugs are worked out ... it's got a home on my site, which is dedicated to UnrealGold.

I went in your server and had a look at it, and i think its pretty sweet :)


If not very cool lol. It a great tool for mapvoting and gametype. I asume it will work with something like CTF ?

Yes... but I highly doubt end-game voting would work there, unless it calls some event before mapchange.

Out of my head (not having any sources here at work) I believe you could force the Restart Game variable to false thus restart game would never succeed and the map would not change - until at some time you set the variable back to true. However, this clutters up your logfile badly...

Ok... after 1 look at DeathMatchGame, I think this option I added for it "bBeginEndGameVotingOnEndGame" should work out after all.
It triggers itself as fast as bGameEnded is set on True, which means it disables timer on gameinfo to stop the timed auto map switch.
So I could assume that option will work on RealCTF aswell. However I think it may do some bad things on some coop game mods, such as begin mapvoting after each "mapchange".

Don't ask me. I never even looked at their scripts, but I guess only way to find it out is to try it...
However its easy to add an additional serverside script if needed for those to work to, unless they switch map just like that without changing any variable(s).

UTeamFix and EnhancedDM have their own map vote options, so you might want to use those instead when using one of these game types.

Well our main server is a teamserver, and it would be cool to switch to CTF when you want while having the server run normal team by default.


On a sidenote and kinda off topic, but i am working on a CTF version of the SGC map. So would be cool to run that one too on the mainserver :)

Well I have updated this mod again, I added an admin maplist manager menu so admins in server can modify the maplist.
You need to be log in as admin with password when you join server, it will NOT work if you try to access the menu when you logged in as admin with some adminlogin command or whatsoever!

That 'X' shows in which maplist it should be in. If it is in '(ALL)' it will be on every maplist, but not if it dosent match the configured map prefix.
The lower part is a FULL maplist of every map in the server. Just double click on the list to move a map to voteable maps.

you might want to bind it to F8 instead, my X key is already binded to devmode render editor switch and MapVoteLA13 binds key to F8 tho...

Actually I just noticed the "autobind". Does it actually just overwrite existing binds if the key is already in use? I suppose this might create a little nuisance because probably every player has bound this or that key and may find it suddenly changed... Would it be possible to check if keys were in use and auto-assign a blank one? Just a suggestion though.

Update: Changed that auto-keybinder does not bind your voting menu to X key anymore if you already have it bound to some other key (Set Input ShowVotingMenu).
Also added UWebAdmin pages for this mod (VotingHandlerWeb.u) so you can remotely configure the mutator with your standard internet explorer (Index page > Defaults > Mod Configures > Maplist Voting Config/Voting GameConfig) and just a reminder, this feature is ONLY for Unreal ver 227.

Just make bind key changeable.
UT2004 has it default 'x' .
