Creating plants and stuff

Post by Smirftsch »

Wondering if some of you guys out there can gimme a suggestion which tool best to use to create plants and stuff which could be used in Unreal later then.
It should be either free or at least affordable.
I've seen Wings3D so far, but no idea if this suits my needs and I have an old version of Truespace (3.2).
Any suggestions are welcome :)

complexity of blender is the getting used to of the keystrokes versus icon for accomplishing a task although not necessarily completely true.
the tutorials are much better now than in the past.
I believe you will be very happy if and only if you can get past that initial learning curve.
once done it becomes easier to do again (modeling that is)
the interface is very unique IMO
I can't remember if the DXF to Unreal worked last time I tried it
also scaling the model is going to be 'fun'

Yeah DXF is importable by Unreal, the downside of it, it cannot contain textures. Those needs to be re-added in the editor afterwards, inlike t3d or (unr for that matter).
