65536 leaf nodes limit

Where is this limit in the source code? Just found that my max payne map can't continue because it reached that limit.

I did a quick google task and found that Source engine also has a limit of 65536 leaf nodes.

16-bits limit, 2^16 = 65536.

Even if you remove that limit it will take s11tload of time to get to the bsp tree node, also it will cause HUGE bsp-node level holes which may cut off tree (entire section of map may turn into a bsp hole) and other BSp related problems... better dont >:(
