There is a server bearing the name -(DOG)- clan server. This is not our server. The server ip address happens to be 71.16.58.41 which according to our IP log belongs to JackRabbit. Perhaps its time to raise this issue on www.oldunreal.com. I have had him (this ip address) banned from all TNN services. I will leave it up to the Clan members to post and deal with this obvious problem player. He has been banned from our servers for ending maps, and in general lewd and ugly language. This was followed by posting in our shout box with lewd language. Then followed (as indicated by the server protection) a DOS attack from the above ip. This all was several days ago, I thought the matter was closed, but then today I see this server. The community needs to be aware that this is not connected in any way with the DOG clan nor are we responsible for what transpires on that server in anyway. Jackrabbit, If this is really you, I don't know what you have in mind with this, but go for it. I am now mute on this subject and have said my piece. In case this is being spoofed and it is not you, I apologize in advance. I will leave it up to others smarter than I to determine if this is authentic or not.

Just checked log for NxS server. Jackrabbit attempted ANOTHER DOS attack after he was banned from NxS (not by me). He pinged the server 999 times in less than 1 minute, rejoined, was banned manually again, then proceeded to do the same thing again...WTF?

While I agree with making people aware of a server that is not yours I must strongly disagree with posting personal issues reguarding other's actions. Without any log file I might add.

First I am not implying nor trying to prove anything. Second I don't believe I have ever made a reference to making logs available to the public. The attacks on the server are history and I don't provide server logs for very many reasons to non admins..The actions that took place on the server were observed by many and the posts in our shout box were up plenty long enough for anyone interested to read them. I don't think I have any need to prove anything or any other mission other than denying responsibility for that server. Perhaps people are being fooled by this person. Ip addresses can be spoofed and I provided a way out which was answered by "I just got permission". I have little more to say about this, but I think anyone with average intelligence can read between the lines with that statement. I consider the matter closed and done.

I don't believe OldUnreal shares his mission and If I did I wouldn't bother answering your query.

obviously the reason I hit my reconnect button in the first place was because (once again) I got banned for absolutely no reason. Can anyone answer the question to why I got banned from the NxS server in the FIRST PLACE? Hell. I'll DOS your damn server all day if I get banned for no reason.

I don't have a problem with you, but I don't care who it is; if they DOS attack a server for any circumstance, they are permanently banned...

that log proves that I'm completely innocent and misjudged. Every server I go into I get called a "hacker" who is using "lag" hacks and whatnot.

Then I go to the NxS server which is supposedly (hack free) and don't get auto kicked (like what was expected). So the admin decides to ban me for no reason and blame it on my old dm clan hLk.

Don't bring hLk into this at all. They are honest players and so am I. You guys are totally out of place for this whole thing. Newbiesplayground, NxS, and TNN. Just look at the TNN forums and you'll see what I'm talking about

Well, next time you get banned from a server for being "innocent", email the MAIN admin. DOS attacks are a TOS violation of your ISP, which if it happens again will result in people calling your ISP Abuse team, and possible termination of your ISP.....Don't take it so personally when you get banned, email the MAIN admin and ask him to review the logs for your vindication...I am going to have a detailed chat with the admin helper that banned you from NxS, as I think it was a fair bit of a premature/ambiguous action.

You seem to have no patience whatsoever and prefer agonistic attacks when things don't go your way....You are young, I know, but in the real world, you need to learn to be patient and collective. I am enabling Nepthsys on NxS, because I've already been informed by our server of your actions, and I don't want it to result in the termination of your ISP. Stick to your server and please, don't be a smartass to admins.......

If I discover another DOS attack performed by you, contacting your ISP abuse team will be my initial action. If that dosen't go through, your IP range will be banned forever....

This is not a threat, but rather an informative warning. Trust me, you don't wan't to piss of the members of NxS or other clans......I've already heard enough negative comments from members/admins of other clans about your actions, and they are not mistaken by any means.

I've played this game since 1998 and know of every possible personality that shows up on these servers, and know the direct course of action to take against them.

Stop me if I start making sense. From what I've said in my above post I have no reason to rapidly reconnect (or what you call DoS attack) the server if I am not being mistreated/banned by the admin.

I am no idiot, and I'm no stereotype. I'm not some "kid" who people think they can push around. I'm jackrabbit. Deal with it.

Why drag Smirftsch into this? It's not his fault people can't act like decent human beings. I saw 3 letters that caught my eye to make me post (TNN)...

So anywhos... Jackrabbit was permanently banned from our network for harrassment and DoS attacks against newbies playground. We have a zero tolerance policy in place against abusing our customers... so he landed a ban... not too much to that eh? I am not taking sides or anything...

Also purely IMO... an admin should have the right to deny anyone access to their server, regardless if they have a 'good reason' or not... *Most* admins do not have problems with allowing anyone to play in their servers, its the sour/abusive ones that they dont like... I do find it kind of odd that these folks just happened to have banned this guy for *no* reason, but he starts abusing them on their forums, and sending attacks...

I dont want to get involved in this too much, I just wanted to throw my two cents in there...

On another note... I hope all is well for everyone! =D

Agreed with Pitbull. Unreal needs the community - each of the members. If you can't prove that someone is guity, then presume it's innocent. If you can prove otherwise, then take some actions, but not as rough as perm banning everyone around. People can get second chances. And bad talk is just as offending as hacking, really. If you have to say something, then keep cool and talk normally, not over the top with the uglyness.
Yeap, OldUnreal has nothing to do with it, and yes, there must be no personal statements if there is no real proof. Even if there is, it must be double checked. And even then those who post should be careful. This time, though, the first post was careful enough just lacked proof. Now as we are sure there was the attack, it's better. But actually, there's quite nothing we can do about it, that's server admins issues. If some members get banned from one boards, they could go to others... And still, I think that banning must be used strictly when there's nothing else you could do. That counts for both boards and servers. As I have been an admin of quite a lot forums and communities, I have to say that I have the experience, and it's really better to give people second chances. If you need to take some action, give verbal warnings, official warnings, 1-day bans (to cool people and give them time to think), 7-day bans and so on, but not perm bans.

May I inform you that playing at any 3rd party server is a privillege and not a right? A server owner has the right to grant or deny players access for whatever reason. Remember that you are guest at someone elses computer. If you don't like it there, just get the f*ck out of there and play elsewhere. (Or better, run your own server.)

The only person who makes sense here is Pittbull. What's done is done. Obviously I have different opinions with the "majority" of unreal admins and yes.. I do think this will backfire on them. "What goes around, comes around." Keep treating your "users" like this.. I appreciate the kind remarks, although I still feel there are alot who don't understand my feelings on these kind of posts. I honestly wanted to delete the thread entirely and had I caught it sooner rest assured I would have. If anyone is familiar with http://www.unrealadmin.org/ you will notice that they don't allow any IP's or names to be posted. I agree with this 100%. I don't think a lock on this thread is really needed at this point so I will let it go on, however if any more posts are made accusing people in such manners I will not hesitate to delete them. You people are guests here and should act accordingly. This includes myself.

For these matters I run Nephthys, auto-detects many types of DOS and other attacks, auto-bans, and you can hide servers from ip's if needed as well. No need to bother a server admin with issues it'll take care of them for you. (not compat with 227).
