hello,

i'm new here and i have 1 problem.

i can host a server, i like custom maps - but these can only be downloaded very slow by other players (speed = 56K or ISDN speed) :(

it must be the unreal settings in the unreal.ini! i've tried to get more upload performance with default settings and also with some diffrent custom settings - nothing improved. I've also tried diffrent server version (225f, 226f and all 227 versions)

i have:
cable, equal ping to servers in my country germany=10-12ms
30 mbit down
2 mbit up
dedicated server with 2 ghz core duo, 1 gig ddr2
unreal server version 227d

my gaming pc is connected via lan to my dedicated server. unreal gaming version is also 227d.

---->??? which settings of unreal are the best for a very fast upload of files to other players???

currently the only thing that can fix this for you is the latest version of nepthtys at:

http://www.zzora.altervista.org

Since there is no version of nepthtys available for 227 (yet) try using the latest nepthtys version with server of version 225f. (this gives best preformance).

You don't need Nephthys with Unreal 227. (It won't even work)

For Unreal 227 servers there is an option to redirect downloads to a http server. You can also compress those files to make them smaller. See the Unreal 227 manual for details.

Yes, the poor download performance is a known problem yet with 227 servers (Without redirect). Although a a more constant rate its overall slower.
Really best idea is to use HTTPRedirect, which speeds up download rate massively.

experiment with ur tickrate.  I found on my servers a tickrate of 70 eliminated the slow dl issue.  Above 70 was not any faster, but below 70 and I would again have the slow dl problem.  Of course my servers have 2.4 - 3.0 ghz cpu's and a minimum of 45meg upload so my settings may work due to that combination of cpu / bandwidth.  In any case you have nothing to lose so play with the tickrate and see if it works for you.
All my servers are 225f.

When I was testing 227 I was able to successfully implement a redirect server, and my 227 client screamed through the downloads.

Also tested the Nephthsys redirect and that worked quite well also. That needed the Unreal client to also have the Nepthsys client installed
