Return to Na Pali in oldskool doesnt seem to work

Hello all,

I am new here and maybe this has already been addressed, but I cant for the life of me find a fix that would allow me to play RtNP for UT the same way that I can play the original Unreal.

I am aware of this,

but it still doesnt allow me to save my games!

If anyone knows a way to get RtNP to work in Oldskool, please share.

I haven't found a way. Simply follow the readme, you must change the UTMenu.UTConsole to UPak.UPakConsole and you get to play the SP normally (use the Mod->Single Player menu). OldSkool doesn't seem to like RTNP2UT. But now there's the UPaK to Unreal project, so we'll be able to use UPak without their bugs.

I would also add, that I possess both, Unreal Gold and the standalone versions of Unreal and RtNP. I recently found gold in a bargain bin for $3.99.

I figured it was worth it, if it would help in getting oldskool to support RtNP

Simply open readme.txt from the RTNP2UT archive and follow it. It will work that way, but to get to playing Unreal Tournament again you need to edit your UnrealTournament.ini, and under [Engine] (or something) switch the line Console=UPak.UPakConsole back to Console=UTMenu.UTConsole. To start and save the maps, open UT, open the Mod menu and select Single Player. There's an option to save games in there as well. Though this method won't give you UT weapons, it's harder to get those.

Well, if I cant get UT weapons its probably just best to install Unreal Gold, download the high res texture packs and apply the multimedia patch. The result is not quite as good as oldskool Unreal, but it looks like it will have to do for now. I am hoping someone will come up with a way to run RtNP in oldskool.

Well, you can get UT weapons actually. Go to the part where you need to start Single Player, but don't do it, instead, press the tilde key (~) and enter: open duskfalls?game=UPak.duskfallsgame?mutator=oldskool.spoldskool . This will be a limited OldSkool but you'll get the new things.
