I like the idea of automap feature. It looks like they wanted to make a doom-like automap but abandoned it because it was too complex in 3D. (Doom levels are not true 3D, no rooms above each other which makes it easily mappable.)

Duke3d was also like this, it was merely an illusion that there were multiple floors, it posed a challenge to make them work properly. especially with a fish tank you could drop down into on the lower level

Is that why underwater monsters always ignored you whenever you surface? Lol Duke3d was hilarious.
Hey, that was the Build Engine and it was used in Shadow Warrior and Blood, also. If I were to make my first game, I'd use that engine, haha.

Probably why they ignored you, you could have the underwater area a few thousand miles away in build and it would seem like it was just underwater. I believe in shadow warrior the AI was improved on that aspect. i'm not sure

Lol the AI in Shadow Warrior is hilarious, one of the enemies shoves their gun in their mouth, then they blow their brains out, hahahaha!
Wow wouldn't it be cool if Unreal had a automap, or a sketch map atleast, TheiveryUT (which is a mod BASED off of Thief: The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age) had sketch map's, they were cool to.
EDIT: I know Sketchmap's are possible because they WERE done accurately in TheiveryUT, in terms of showing players locations in real-time. Oh hey Casey, does Tails really like to look at every post you make? Lol I love that avatar you're using. Haha. Tailz!!

automap is possible in UScript. I wanted to make smth like this for TCO, but abandoned it, since we don't want to show 'way out' of teh maps

despite the water workings and room-above-room technique was the same in shadow warrior, it featured translucent water so you and enemies could see eachother from those different zones, its kinda like how warpzones function in unreal.

Blood had translucent water to (in some maps) so yeah I know what you mean Turboman. But the AI in Blood were even more dumbasses, they can't see you at all in multi floor maps unless YOU are on the same floor they are, or if they manage to stumble into the floor you're on, it's rather funny. Lol.

I would like to know how to view or extract the models in 95 demo, in editor mode there ios no mesh vioewer nor texture or classbrowser etc.
About games which used automaps, I remember Turok 2 used a map.

Almost all "retro" FPS games used a auto-map, mini-map or w\e for navigation because people get lost.

Here's a list of games (that I know off the top of my head) that use automaps:
Doom
Duke Nukem 3D
Rise of the Triad
Descent 1 2 and 3
Heretic 1
Hexen 1
Gunmetal
Shadow Warrior
Blood 1
EDIT: I was a dumbass and forgot Shadow Warrior and the original Blood, lol....

Maybe that will sound strange, but... What's Unreal 95 tech demo? I have their music (from mirsoft page), it's cool, but what's the tech demo and what's the story of it? It's a pre-Unreal release?

nice textures, but there's a few things: you can see repeteve tiling on some of the textures, so you could just take 1/4th of that texture with the same ingame results, not to mention i can see some dithering on some textures (especially the last one).
i assume you screencapped them and simply stretched/disorted them flat bitmap dimensions?

ya

guess i should make them smaller

, and i didnt just use paint to make them correct size , just be at right position when i printscreen them

Woah, looks so much like doom][, where's the right Unreal lighting? Or is it the Texture Only mode of the editor?

You mean, you can't open those maps with UnrealEd or something like that? If you could that would mean 1 click export. And it doesn't contain .UTXs?
What's a 7z anyway? Lol!

a kind of ZIP file , compressed files

www.7zip.org, and theres a command to get a kind of editor in this tech demo but u cant do anything with it , well as i know , and you cant export anything because theres no object browser...

No .UNR files? No .UTXs? Or anything like that?
Lol, why 7z instead of zip or rar?

well there is .unr , and why the one who packed the game used 7z i dunno...

7z was smaller as Zip, or was it the opposite?? :-?

7z is ALOT smaller and it can have file encryption, that's what makes it cooler. Oh yeah it also has the Solid Archive option similar to WinRAR's.

If there's an .unr file, maybe you can open it with UED1?
Zip is the weakest archiver I have ever heard of but it's inbuilt to WinXP. Long live WinRAR
