227 beta is released

After a long day again, I made it finaly to produce a working installer. Files can be found in the download section, Oldunreal Patches.
I'm pretty tired now, so I hope I didn't miss something. Please use the 227 section to report any problems and bugs.
Please remember, this is a testrelease, to find bugs, so bugreports are very needed to make a final version.

Its late now, and I wanted to release it for Christmas. Now, I missed Christmas here half an hour (local time), but still I wish you all a merry christmas, and I hope you enjoy this patch, it includes years of work, thousands of E-Mails and many many hours of arguments with my girl.

PS: don't forget, any donations, to help me with this page, and to buy the hardware I need for testing the patches are very welcome.

wow, i just came here, logged in out of curiousity and its DONE! you're the best smirftsch :D

merry christmas everyone, and enjoy the patch! i however won't be able to try it right now, but i'll hopefully check it out extensively in the next few days ;)

After all those years finally a tangible result. Thanks so much for all your effort. I'm mirroring the file as I type this and spreading the news. I'll give it a try the coming days. Shouldn't you change that so it defaults to 0?

EDIT:
HELP I CAN'T MOVE MY MOUSE

I go to the server browser and my mouse is locked in the dead center. Moving it causes it to move and then immediately snap back

OK I can move it normally if I go into window mode. but only "normally", unreal won't take the mouse and let me use it to turn unless I HOLD the mouse button... which causes me to fire simultaneously...

cool smirf!  Nice work and offering you free xmass day for it pffieew...   I wish u a good Xmass and a happy end of 2007 and good luck with the patch227!

BTW is it recomed that i can use it ? or waith till it have beein fixed.. ?
Is t also posible to use it for Serverhosting?

everyone is invited to use and to test it, and of course, one of its major updates is for server.
With the linux port you can even run a linux server.
That it is a testrelease means only that bugs can be expected. Not that there are any or at least that there are critical bugs in it. So test it, and report if necessary :)

It's very much meant for serverhosting.

Oh and if you join any "old" UProtect protected servers you will be kicked of course :-P

the fullscreen mouse issue seems to have been a one-time thing, but I still have no useful mouse while in windowed mode.

had no trouble myself with windowed mode and mouse, so lets see if we can find out more.

I had the same issue. Go to "Display" in advanced options and change CaptureMouse to True.

I got a failed to join message while connecting to my own server, said I couldn't join multiplayer games because I used a set command... which I didn't. Casey had the same problem. It doesn't always happen though, which is strange.

Death messages are screwed up;
Dante was throughlykilled by Bane
(I might have the missing space in the wrong area, but the point is it's missing a space). This occurs even in vanilla death match.

great job, but call me blind, I don't see the 227 beta available for download anywhere, it's not on the oldunreal patches download page.

Mouse problem only first start up when lookin for servers.. next startup  no problem..  looking for 227 server 'right now'.. :)

Hey one thing, when your in game, press MINUS a few times haha, bug :) but im really happy this is coming to light, any chance of packaging the high res stuff with this? i saw theres support for it by defualt now, but im not sure if its actually in the setup.

I know the tons of work you did put in this big baby must have caused alot of headaches and frustrations. But you have done it, here is the (beta) 227. Great work. Been fooling around with it since the last hour, and i like what i see.


Obviously i wanted to see how the S3TC textures would look like in D3D8 and they look just fine. And this does mean that people encountering problems in OpenGL now have another option which is super cool. The same goes for people that dislike OpenGL to begin with and picked that as a reason not to go use the S3TC textures.

I've posted a few Unreal client related issues already in the bug report forum. Most important will be the testing of my servers tho. I'm wondering if/how I can install Unreal 227 to my highly customised / sophisticated Unreal server config. (Running many mods like JCoopZ, Nephthys, Server tools/mutators and a few packs.)

I guess I'll play with it a bit tomorrow...

Obviously RedirectoToURL= points to the http stash of maps and files.
Say I wanted to store my maps at http://unrealdestination.com/maps/

Do I throw them in a zip file?
Do I actually have directory structures like /maps/maps, /maps/textures?

Can you give a brief rundown on how this works?
