It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Well, I've got FTP space a-plenty waiting for 227. I'm sure I can fit 80 MB into the several GBs available. Contact me when it's ready for release, and I'm ready to "host" it for ya. I'm sure that CW, Newbies, TCP, Havok (etc) and a few others will have abit of space for it too !!

Take as long as you need, but just not too long eh. LoL :)

i remember some ogg music files mental hunter converted to umx and they could only be heard
by galaxy drv , im using fmod and couldnt hear them, i even cant join his 225f server and im using ugold... :P
That were actually a Wav music you heard over there then. They have a huge quality loss and have a huge filesize, I was more thinking of Mp3/Ogg's imported into game as sound files (uax), not music files (umx).

Even nicer thing were if you could import on 227 Mp3/Ogg's as musics (Engine.Music) instead of sounds so you could use them as actual map musics.

How was the mp3 player in Wheel of Time implemented? Would it be possible to introduce that (or preferably an Ogg player) into Unreal?

If not there's still no limitations to converting audio CD tunes for use in Unreal. I've got the dBAmp-Music program on my site. It will take the tunes off a retail music CD and convert them to .wav or .mp3 files, and lets you customize the settings (bit rate and Hz etc). I've got an .ogg codex for it too. I'll be including that on my site soon.

So, if the 227 patch does let a peep use .ogg I'm ready for that treat. :)

ogg would be possible, but I left it out because of the massive requests for making 227 compatible as much as possible with older versions.
MP3 is a bad idea anyway because its no free format like OGG is, so its license would cause trouble in such a patch.

Might you ever want to put in OGG-Support for Unreal, you could take a look at how Epic did it with ut2003 and ut2004. Although, they made it quite retarded with the opening, you can only open UMX files :-/ :-?

Yeah i think converting to ogg's and such isn't all that important at the moment...getting the patch done and out in the first place is the top priority...and then we can worry about getting ogg's imported to Unreal :P

I'm not really too fussed about that though... it's only another method for lousy mappers to add 'Let The Bodies Hit The Floor' by Drowning Pool into their maps.

Christ, I hate that song. And I hate being forced to listen to it when playing a map.

Codefreeze now. No new features will be built in.
All necessary things have been built in, and tested as far as possible. Now its time to release a beta to give you the chance to find all bugs I missed and maybe find new ones. Expect a release at the early of December. Maybe there will a short pre- test with a few chosen people before, need to discuss this with all people involved.
When I wanted to release it last year- yes, I know, it has been more or less a year now- I didnt expect so many things which will appear. But it was worth it in my eyes, I even made it to create a complete linux port.
I will create a new forum section especially for this purpose.
Don't mean to be rude but since early December is arriving can we get an official release date?  :D

If you haven't decided if it will be in zip or Umod, can it be in Zip? :D Since my only Unreal Cd has broken somehow. Else i have to use Exe extractor..

freakin flu keeps me in bed. Couldn't make as much as I wanted to yet.
Hope to fnish all necessary pre-work tomorrow, then the docs need to be done.
then only the anti-cheat protection needs to be adjusted. Got everything else from the others involved (thankya bozo for this heavy work on the meshes!!!!!!).

For the question about the package:It will be as exe, just as the official patches before.
