no sleeping, this is an exciting time of year :o

I've checked this topic every day more than once to keep up to date with developments, what anticipation, very frustrating, but that does build some hype.

As soon as I have time away from family tomorrow or next day I will be testing that bad boy out on a server with redirection operating.

I have old (but good) parts available to build/format a new server machine for the task.

plus my fast upload speed of 832 kbps will handle some players nicely, euro based. And fast euro based web host for internet downloads.

Will be a TDM server.

I might use EDM or an older version of uteamfix, it seems many complain about the newest utf because of problems using it in 226/gold, I might just put that down to 226/gold bugs, but utf r9b was alot faster at running on a server, but obviously less bug fixes/support than later utfs. Sorry for off topic - just debating server options. I'm about to be jumped on by wolf because I know there are some 227 options already in place in the last released utf :)

I've always been a fan and supporter of uteamfix, but edm does look attractive :)

really needed this sleep, don't wanna make some "last-minute-mistake" although i'm already sure that i've probably overseen at least "something"...:)
But hell, this is what this beta is for, to fix what I've lost, forgotten, maybe did wrong. Now on it again. Need to verify the installation, to be sure that everything will be correctly installed, and runs ok.

Got idea... what do you think about landing sounds ?? I mean when player lands on the ground proper sound is played. You can also (since you have all teh sources) add function to play swimming sound while swim anim is played and underwater ambient sound. I can help you with UScript and stuff if ya want.

Hmm, there already is something like that? Though different sounds for landing would be something cool, that's what Unreal 2 has. Underwater ambient sounds can be added by mappers, as the swimming sound is good. But the Beta is almost out, noting else will be added to the beta, only to the final version I think.

I meant final not beta :). In TCO we have 3 sounds for left foot and 3 for right so it gives 6 footsep sounds, plus 3 landing sounds and that water stuff.

And for noobs who just got Unreal to display a message when they fail to join a 227 server. Something Like This: 'You need the 227 patch to join this server, you can get it at OldUnreal.com.'

ALAudio already provides sound for underwater, as well as any other liquid too.
For the landing sound- yes, something to think about, footstepsounds are already in and can be customized applied to any texture.
For the connecting- well, there is no message yet, but something I wanted to do and forgot in the end now...

localization kept me busy, but I think I have it all now. Not all settings are customized yet (but availible now), so any Spanish, Italian and French player is asked here

after a long and hard fight, the installer gave up and is working now correctly. Checks for installations, UGold patches fine also. But as mentioned in the 227 forum already, no UPAK support yet.

Uploading...

this maybe?

unreali.int
[UpgradeMenu]
MenuList[1]=You need a newer version of Unreal to play on this server. Would you like to go to the Oldunreal web site for a newer version?

more like

Code: Select all

event_OldVersion=(bTellPlayers=true,bKick=false,bSessionBan=false,offenseName=" has an old Unreal Client!",message1="Please go to",message2="WWW.OLDUNREAL.COM",message3="to download and install the latest patch for Unreal!",message4="")
