Unreal 1 Onslaught

This is just some mod I started with inspired by UT2004' Onslaught gametype.
It is only an alpha version, so mappers can make their onslaught maps for this mod if they want to. I know it has a lot of bugs in it yet and so on...
Bugs:
- Missing explosion effects
- Sometimes ur own powernode gets "isolated" when you capture an isolated enemy powernode
- Bots act like some shitty sissys (but at least they "try" to play it)
- Much more...
Heres a list of things I think I will still add:
- Weapon lockers (multiplie weapons pickup)
(- Vehicles?)
To launch this gametype with that included example map:
Start game and hit tab and write in:
Open ONS-TestMap?Game=Onslaught.ONSGameInfo
Download this alpha version from here:

Ohyea, its great. I saw it on hes server, it has the same models/sounds textures etc... I first thaught it wasn't possible to convert Skeletal Meshes to LODMeshes?

sweet!!!! Only played the gametype a few times in UT2004, but its worth to check it out for unreal!

Ehm, they are StaticMeshes in UT2004. StaticMeshes are possible to convert into Brushes in UnrealEd 3.
About missing NewUTFonts.utx, I updated the download link (this one has it):

wow! I had alot of fun in the test map!!!!!!!!! Great mod you have here.. can't wait to try a server online and play it

hey here to report a bug. The game was really really fun, I played with 2 of my friends online and we had a great time. There is one bug that kept crashing my server though. If you play as the nali class, your server will eventually crash. Not sure why this happens

I played it a while ago and it was quite fun. it did need some tweaking (as expected in an Alpha test) and of course a link gun to charge up the 'health' bars of your nodes. At some point I kept being spawnkilled by bots so it may need a larger map.
Vehicles would be nice but I doubt that the Unreal engine is capable of having realistic vehicle behaviour like in Unreal II / UT2004. Previous vehicle attempts are not much more than controllable 'bricks' in shape of a car/vehicle.

Yes, an impossible conversion on at least one of the vehicles. The scorpion alone is just a mess of code that is extremely hard to understand, even for Dots (unless he's mastered that by now). The models on the other hand are easy convert to convert since they are part of the Unreal Engine 2. Personally if you ask me the Hellbender is junk, it's only good for getting to places. The manta is possible since it just hovers, in fact I remember Dots was making UT2k4 Vehicles for Unreal 1 and it had a Manta. Apart from that Unreal cannot handle the rendering of some of these models since they are so detailed. You'll get a big blog of junk when you summon it that disappears and reappears all over. I know, cause I have tried it with really big movers and detailed models like that Pelican I converted which can still be made into a vehicle mover.

Just a reminder to Dots, If you use more textures from UT2004, please dont add them to .u or .unr files but keep them as seperated .utx files. Because its super easy to also turn those textures into S3TC textures since all textures are available in high resolution in UT2004.
This can be done with a press of a button to get the S3TC textures. Porting materials from UT2003, UT2004, UT3, Gears Of War offers the best options to also have it all in high resolution. But only if they are addded to a seperate .utx file and not embedded.
In addition to that, if you do assemble new packages, please dont add Wet, Fire or any type of procedural textures to the wannabe S3TC packages. Normal animations like _A00 to _A** can be added with no problem.
Just wanted to point that out
Havnt had time to test the mod myself, but sounds like fun alright

Well just got home from military once again. Were stuck in there for 3 weeks :-?
But anyway, I'll try find some time now for updating this mod.
- About LinkGun, not to worry.. I was planning about using UT'99 PulseGun model and modify it act like UT2k4's LinkGun.
- About Vehicles, no progress so far.
- About textures (*.utx files), I'll do that later.
And most of the bugs are pretty easy to fix in that mod anyway.

I added "Link Gun" (Onslaught.ONSLinkGun) and "Weapon Locker" for it, to make the game more like UT2k4 one.
But AI plains to suck with use of the link gun so never mind about that... I havent dont anything about that yet.

when I try to join your 227 ONS server, my game crashes to the "Send Error Report" mesage view. I'm not sure why this is.. I tried all different video drivers for 227 and no luck. Crashes everytime
