www.unrealtexture.com

It should have been a cheerfull opening for the new site, but for me it isnt. After working for like 2 months on the site, earlyer this week the sitehost (HostPapa.ca) all of a sudden decided that i am not allowed to run a gaming site which btw. is nowhere to be found in their Terms. The whole story to be honest is utter bull. I was too depressed about the situation to work further on the site, and decided to not hold back the planned releases.

Enough of that..........

Goal of the site

The site is ment to host 4 Unreal Retexturing projects being:

- Unreal Retexturing Project (URP or URProject)
- Unreal Tournament Retexturing Project. (UTRP or UTRProject)
- UT2004 Texturing Project (UT2004TP or UT2004TProject)
- UT3 Texturing project. (UT3TP or UT3TProject)

The first two are actual retexturing projects, while the last two are ports from the high resolution textures to UT2004 and UT3.

Gears Of War was also supposed to be in that list, but Microsoft decided to make it that much a commercial product that no one wants to have the game. You cannot run a server on your own and rely on Microsoft to do so. Next to that you have to have a Gold or Silver Live account to even go play.

Will they ever learn..........

So for now GOW is off the list.

All together the projects should asure it will keep running for upcomming years.

The site also hosts all info and downloads for creating textures and editing in general. But at this moment only the Unreal section has been completed for the bigger part. The other games will follow little by little.

Texture Database

The texture database has been completed, and is now 100% up to date. All packages(read textures) can now be viewed online. On top of that i also added the procedural textures like Wet and Fire to the Texture Database.

If you want to see what textures also are available in S3TC in certain package than you can view those online, and not just that, you can click on them and see a 1024 x 1024 pixel version :D

Important note: The textures in the Texture Database all have been brightened so you can view them onluine without adjusting your monitor. They also have been index colored or they have been JPG compressed. All together this means: DONT use those for creatiing your packages. The texture database is for viewing purposes alone ! Make note of that !

And here is the link to the database:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]Texture Database[/glow]

Mappers

For the mappers i added the high resolution textures that are available as downloadable PSD files. Those PSD files are flattened (Oné layer) PSD files but do contain an Alpha Channel for Masking if present in the texture. The downloads for those can be found in the 2D download section:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]PSD Files[/glow]

What are the PSD files for:

- You can use them to make creating brandnew textures by adding new painting or text to it. If you have an interesting new set of textures, they will be supported for the URPproject.

- Not supported is, if you simply assemble a new package with it, this is anti supported ! and should never be done to begin with..........

- Creating backgrounds for website, or avatars or signatures.

Important note: Those files are huge, they really are, so for gods sake please check the Texture Database to see what textures you want before you blindly go download them.

If the downloads for those exceed the limit, they will be cut short till each end of the month, and if needed only at request for interesting projects.

In that respect, invidiual IP''s are shut down(till the end of the month) after they reached 1.5 gigabyte of TOTAL downloads from the entire website.

Other Unreal engine 1.0 based games

I also added all downloads available for other Unreal Engine based games like:
- Deus Ex
- DS9 The Fallen
- Klingon Honor Guard
- NERF Arena Blast
- Rune
- Clive Barker's Undying
- Wheel of time.

For all games mentioned i added the full demogame for download, as well as all patches for the games.

You can either use them to play the games or extract data from them for mapping.

Here is the link to that section:

S3TC textures

All the S3TC packages have been split in two. You can now choose downloads for High End videocards and Low End videocards. This is mainly ment for the people that do not have a powerfull enough videocard  to run the S3TC textures.

You can find the specifications here:

Low End videocards:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]Low Res Explanation[/glow]

High End videocards:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]High Res Explanation[/glow]

Remember, those are just advised choices, at the end you dicide what textures you want to play with, simple as that.

But it needs to be said, i did play with the low End versions, and they still look very cool.

And now the releases :)

The most important release is for SkyCity, the package reached a staggering 412 Mb and contains tons of(at least i hope) cool updates.

You can view all the textures in the texture database on this page:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]SkyCity[/glow]

On the bottom of each page you can download the package, and choose between high or low resolution S3TC.

The second release is a brandnew release, and its the main package for CTF being RealCTFtxtrs.utx

You can view all the textures in the texture database on this page:

Link: [glow=yellow,2,300]RealCTFtxtrs[/glow]

Again, downloads are split into High and Low resolution.

Adds

Yes i had planned to have some (non annoying, non pupups, non bothering) adds on the pages to get at least a bit of support for the site. Since all my plans went straight into the recyclebin earlyer this week. they are not there. But will be in time.

Near future

No clue, the website can be shut off any time, however if this happens, ill transfer everything to a new host(already got one in the picture). If that situation arises, than give me a week to deal with it.

Conclusion

Well ill hope you all like the new stuff so got something to play with for Christmas :)

Almost forgot

All packages are split between High and Low End cards, not just SkyCity. All the downloads can be found on this page:

Question for REALCTFTEXTURES:

Will 227 have CTF as a default gametype for unreal server menu? If this is so, then I will probably start working on a ctf map with these new tex ;)

I suppose your question was a jest? The answer is no anyway, but RealCTF or SimpleCTF should run just fine with it.

Whoa, you have to pay even for the PC version?  That's sick, do they have no sense of decency?  Do they not realize the internet itself costs money?  Let alone paying to use something you own. Btw, good job. Too much for me to read right now but I'll get around to it.

Thanks all :)

I even made the frontpage too :)

Whoa, you have to pay even for the PC version?
If correct you dont have to pay for a silver account, but overhere, when asking in the shops, no-one wants the game because of the Live account you need to have, regardless its free or not. It simply scares away people, simple as that.

There is no harm in making money, after all it does make the world turn, but you can overdo things...........and this is oné of them.

I suppose your question was a jest? The answer is no anyway, but RealCTF or SimpleCTF should run just fine with it.

Why isnt it added, is there a reason for that, well lol, i asume there is one :) But are you willing to share it with us ?

Yea, that is a bunch of bs, wth kind of website service doesn't allow you to host a gaming website without mentioning it in the terms. That's pure grade dedication, regardless of the site you release everything anyways.
