227f UED auto compresses textures?

Post by unregistered »

Just noticed that a 1024 x 1024 texture is 3,1mb in filesize when I save as bmp. Importing as palletized pcx creates an UTX that is 1,4mb large. However, importing a 24bits bmp doesn't gerenate a 3mb large UTX, but a 700kb package, which happens to be the same filesize as that texture saved as dds.

Since 227g will support/supports DXT1, 3 and 5 it seems you are right.. I would say yes, auto-compression to DXT1. 227g shows the texture format in the unrealed, 256 colour textures are p8.

227f doesnt have any of that, so I don't know really. It probably does change their format though.

If I remember correctly UT2004 Ed shows those textures than really auto-compressed as DXT1. And I am sure the texture was auto-compressed here, too.
