Am I missing something?

Post by Athrun »

Hi All, just found the site, looking forward to upgrading my long standing Unreal with new textures :)

Problem is, when following the guide here - http://www.celticwarriors.net/Website/Techpages/S3TCInstallation/Unreal226/S3TCUnreal226.htm I get as far as the Rendering section of OpenGL, only to find I have only 4 options, instead of the huge amount showing in the screenshot.

I've gone back over the installation - I installed the game, then the 226f patch, and the multimedia patch, but still nothing.

Am I missing something, or just being dense?

Welcome to the forums Athrun,

The answer is very simple, it means the game is not patched, somehow..... I asume you do have a 224 version that you tried to patch to 226Final. Normally the installation will install Unreal to: C:\Unreal

- Make sure the 226Final patch does go to that place, check if the path is correct!
Default path is: C:\Unreal

- Make sure the OMP-226-V0.2.exe does go to that place, check if the path is correct!
Default path is: C:\Unreal\System

- Also make sure that the patches are able to locate the original CD rom files.

In case you installed Unreal to a different location like E:\Unreal or D:\Unrealplay make sure you alter the patch to match whatever place you installed Unreal. The OMP patch will normally point to: C:\Unreal\System Again check if the path points to the correct System folder.

Also, the options mentioned, those can be found at the complete bottom of the main list. Make sure you are looking into the correct section!

The main list:

Advanced
Audio
Display
Drivers--->GameRenderDevice--->OpenGL Support
Editor
Game Settings
Game Types
Joystick
Networking
Rendering --->OpenGL Support--->UseS3TC--->True

All together its very important you make sure all paths point to the correct locations, if the options dont show up, it means it didnt patch! And you need to make sure you are looking at the correct options in the Advanced Options. Let us know here, if you were succesfull.

Aw, jeez, you wouldn't beleive I work in IT, would you? ::)

That was exactly the problem. Though the game and patch were installed to C:\Games\Unreal, the OMP patch was installed to C:\Unreal. I'll just go sit in the corner with a dunces hat now :-[

Thanks for the help, and the warm welcome Diehard!
